Greg Chappel must own the responsibility for what he has done to Indian cricket. The team he got in 2006 was a bunch of buys who were tagged together with a strong rope (read Saurav ganguly). First he burnt the rope and then destroyed each stick one by one. The job of the coach is to take care of all the off-field activities. he is the one who has to take care of well being of all the members in both physical and mental aspects. He is like a father figure to the team, whose role is to resolve a crisis and not to create one. Can I ask what Greg has done to rectify the errors in Team India's form or fitness. It was Greg who taught Ganguly how to tackle the Aussies, but he forgot the same for Sehwag. he never made it a point to discuss Irfan's problem with mentors and experts, but left him to fend his way and means in domestic cricket. Is this the way a coach has to work? His disregard for senior pros like Kumble, Zaheer and Saurav is well known. He did his best to ensure that they are kept out of team. Though Saurav and Zaheer forced their way in team, Kumble was again made the scapegoat. Why the hell he was picked up for the world? Why he was played against Bermuda and was dropped after taking three wickets? He is again misleading us with the barb that the senior pros let us down. Is he pointing towards Sachin? Other than him all seniors pros played their part. By the way what the juniors did. Dhoni, Harbhajan, Utthappa all let us down. So how can the seniors be blamed. That is the key to Greg's folly, he wants to assume all the powers, then tends to abuse it and finally gets away without owning the responsibility. If these are not reason enough to fire him?
If our batsman cannot run without wickets, blame the statisticians who who have not highlighted the runs lost but not Chappel. Whose responsibility is this? Statisticians?
It was ex- cricketers responsibility to tell our batsmen about correct stance to negate movement or spin. Whose responsibility??
If our fielders cannot save runs, throw themselves to the ball and attempt slightly tough chances, blame the media for not highlighting this. Please do not blame coach for this. Whose responsibility is this???
If Chappel did not like the team which was going to play the world cup and kept quiet at that time, it is not his mistake. Why did the experts not talk about it?
Dear Arvind, if a coach is not responsible for all of above, what is his basic responsibility? Giving interviews and leaking emails about players???

Even while the sense of immense hurt is lingering in the minds of the indian cricket fans our shameless cricketers are saying that the fans are being unfair. The generally right Mr Kumble says that it bad luck due to which India lost & it happens to all the good teams. I dont remember when Australia lost due to bad luck.These shameless people without any sense of patriotism will do every thing to stay on & earn the crores. The corporates have alraedy said that Tendulkar cannot be dropped from the team as they have multi million contracts with him till 2011.Chappel is the poor scapegoat. Till recently Indians were known for their hospitality. Now we have forgotten even that & insult our guests.Everybody in the team & selection committee it is the collective responsibility. By that evrybody right from Sharad pawar to Uthappa should be axed. But clearly collective responsibility for these mean that nobody is responsible & except for couple we will see the same team back to earn the country more shame.
i think media and ppl who havent played cricket competitively think cricket game can be won and lost by captain and coach.in cricket coach has a very limited role to play. problem with india is that we dont have sporting icons and we are left with cricket players .who play 1 good innings and media makes them the next vivian richards or gilchrist.i bet majority of ppl wont even know who is coaching newzealand,west indies or austrlia.cricket is a team game played by 11 players, so a single individual is as good as a team. if players like Martin,langer ,bevan have retired at top of their game or have been sacked for lack of form,i bet no indian player will ever admit that its time to retire till their form has hit rock bottom.sachin for god sack should have retired 3-4 years back. how many innings do you remember of sachin's and india winning chasing runs, guys like yuvraj and dravid have won more games for india. i think selction should be performance based ,sehwag didnt deserved to be in world cup team ,poor dinesh karthink who looked the most solid player for the last few innings cudnt fit into the team becoz of so called star players like sehwag and sachin.
i think dravid should be more accountable then greg chappel coz in cricket captain has a much larger role to play then coach.
if ppl think team has faired badly against chappel, then all should check the stats of india while playing overseas in tests and one dayers under anshuman gaekwad,madan lan,kapil dev,wadekar. india has never been no 1 team in the world ever under any coach. coaches wont make difference we need good players with strong mental approach rather then talented players who after even 100 one dayers is called a newcomer in india cricket.

In previous world cup the team India played so bad that co-incidently reach super Four.
You know in the process of making a good team and good players by Mr. Greg Chappel we lost our KEY PLAYERS LIKE SACHIN, SOURAV, DRAVID, KUMBLE, SEHWAG, HARBHAJAN, AGARKAR, NEHRA. They lost their own recognition.
Mr. John Wright is a very sensible person. Mr. Wright's thinking and way of handling the situations are remarkable. Give him another chance, one time he was failed to help team India to get world cup but next time he may not fail.
If u have followed the total episode then I think u'll also agree that ganguly came back into the team not because his great batting ( though now he is very consistent ) , but because the ppl beyond Ganguly failed miserably in WI, Malayasia, Champions trophy and SA consistenly . TO save them from more blushes Ganguly has been recalled , He tried his bit but the others beyond ganguly continued with same magical form and India came out as second best ( from behind ) just after Bermuda . Now tell me will sacking Ganguly will solve the purpose ??? I'm sure Team GC RD will continue from where they left ... Regards Avishek

Keeping Ganguly in the team will not help the team in any way! He did not play any better than some of the other seniors in the world cup.
