Stop Blaming Chappell
by Mark Matthew on Apr 03, 2007 04:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is a good article by reddiff. Chappell is a brilliant coach and is trying his utmost to bring discipline to the team and make them a fighting unit but he cannnot do it unless he receives cooperation from all sectors. The public just wants to blame someone else other than their beloved cricket stars who they worship. The public nowadays is so narrowminded that they cant even open their eyes and see whose fault it is for the Indian teams horrible performance. They will blame Chappell, they will blame Ian Frazer but they wont blame the actual culprits who are the Indian team. The Bengalis support Ganguly no matter wat and the Maharashtrans support Sachin. Putting the country ahead of everything else should be the approach. The public themselves bring diversity to the team. If someone is underperforming he should be shown the door and asked to prove his value again. Its because of this reason the Australian team is so successful because of how their system works. People plz grow up and start putting your country ahead of ur cricketing Gods. Dont blame Chappell or any1 other than the cricketers who forgot the value of wearing the Indian colours.

Is Chappell responsible?
by manish agarwal on Apr 03, 2007 04:09 PM  Permalink

As a trainer Chappel has acted in a responsible way.He has devised some new techniques of coaching and playing. He took the team for commando training for few days and trained them through innovative ways but alas!all in vein.Because as a coach his job is not restricted just to train the players but he has to point out the shortcommings of players and all other activities affecting the performance of team directly or indirectly. He has to devise methods to correct prevailing indicipline in the team no matter how senior is the player. At the same time he has to point out the wrong doing of selection committee if any.He has to play the important role in strategy making during important games. If he is under pressure or he is not performing anyone of his duties which he is supposed to do then there is no use of him as a coach and getting hefty payments for his services.Look at the difference in the performance of the players before association of Chappel to the team and today.Indian team has never looked in past also to be having killing spirit which Australians and S.African players have.Ofcourse they have won few tournaments in 80's but after the commerciallisation of game they never looked like that barring few exceptions.

ever since greg became coach he has tried to ruin india's best players, he has leacked information to the media and insults players in public. As a coach he much be responsible, he was meant to prepare the indian players and he didn't. he should be sacked with ganguly as captain, kick tendulker and singh out too.

The guy who written the article seems to be paid by chappel or else how a team that reached the world cup final in 2003 performed so badly this time around even though the core of the team is same. Nothing has changed other than coach. kick him out.

When Ganguly was captain, he didn't do well with his bat or in ground except following the ball upto the boundry line (such a great fielder). But others like Dravid, Sachin, VVS, UV were in form. When Dravid took over as captain, all the seniors showed back to Dravid. Whether it is the fate of Dravid or India. No player has given help to Dravid except UV. Don't say under ganguly the team will do well.

Yes. You are right. If you sack Ganguly, the Bengalibabus will start 'hangama' in Parliament and in WB Assembly. it is very shame that this type of dramas will be held only in India and not in other Cricket playing countries. Mera Bharat Mahan!.

Great........ Greg Chappel, Great Ian Chappel
by Hari pn on Apr 03, 2007 03:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

They have shown the guts to criticise and take appropriate action on non-performers!
Last World Cup, Ganguly scored more than 10 only against Kenya in two innings.... He was not aware what to do with bat.. He was sacked...

This World Cup, Sachin did worse.. and got a sincere criticism from Ian Chappel..

Is Chappel resonsible?
by Munish Dhawan on Apr 03, 2007 03:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi everyone,

Everybody is searching for reasons for the India's debacle in the WC. I think that the chairman of selection committee Mr.Colonel is more responsible than anyone. Remember.... he is the one who leaked the news that dravid insisted on sehwags inclusion in the team when they are embarking to WI. He should have released this news after the india's campaign in the WC is over (who know india would have emerged victorious but for the pressure created by media based on colonel's remarks). Releasing this news put unnecessary heavy pressure both on sehwag as well as dravid. BCCI did right in taking serious exceptions to these remarks of Mr.Vengsarkar. Also, Pathan should have played in the WC in place of a batsman (Uthappa), since he could have scored as many runs as Uthappa scored and had also strengthened the bowling. OK agreed that he is out of form in bowling but who knows on the seaming wickets he could have succeeded. This is the fault of tour/team management. Hope atleast now we come out of regionalism and support the indians. Also I request not to support the media because the pressure created by media and sponsors is also one of the biggest reason for our team's debacle (early exit) I also request all the indians not to watch/purchase the products endorsed by the indian cricketers and PLS. DONT SEND ANY SMS/TALK TO CRICKET ANCHORS/GUESTS TO THE CHANNELS SO THAT THEY CANNOT GAIN ON OUR HARD EARNED, PASSION FILLED MONEY. With all this still you think Mr. Chappel alone responsible for India's early exit?

Comment yaar.....
