Mr Shah's views aired publically only tries to influence and preempt the BCCI and its selection committee. Mr Shah has been less than honest. Dravid can not be compared with himself, but with needs to be compared with Fleming/Jayawardene/Ponting/Vaughan/Smith/Lara for their captaincy and, would Mr Shah find him as good or better? Dravid needs to be compared with Indian Captains of the immediate past - Ganguly/Tendulkar/Azharuddin and would he still rate better? It is indeed true that among all our captains of the past, Captaincy has not affected Dravid's batting. But that makes him a good batsman about which in any case there has been no dispute. Captaincy obviously has many dimensions - tactical superiority, feel of the game, sharp thinking, regaining control over match situations, field placements with the right player at the right places well beforehand not lamenting after lapses i.e. not shutting the barn after the horse has bolted, degree of flexibility in batting and bowling order, ability to do the off-beat, innovation, imagination, courage to stick by your team and having a say in team composition, commanding respect for personal skills and accomplishments. the list is inexhaustive. Some of these attributes the Captain has to have within his own personality, some depend on the enabling environment provided by the BCCI, some others which can not be rationally explained away may be attributed to the unknown element of luck. What Mr Shah has done is to attribute everything to Dravid's poor luck. This is not an encouraging sign that the BCCI would do anything to set India's cricket house in order. I hope Mr Sharad Pawar and others would show a more rational approach. all of us cricket lovers can in the meanwhile pray in expectation. sunilkumarkurup@rediffmail.com
Even if we have 25 young-talented-dynamic-patriatic players or 10 Sachins-10 Dravids-10 Sauravs, our team cant be a world class team like AUS or SA if we dont have atleast one pace bowler like McGrath, Donald, Pollock, Akram, Ambroze, etc. because 90 % of the matches were won by only bowlers. If BCCI fails to understand this, then we cant become a world champion.

Bowling is the root cause of our failure...our so called world clss bowlers like Harbhajan are hopeless...
drop ganguly and put him in nandigram...after that everything will be fine...dravid and sachin are the only through gentelmen available in indian team...only mistake dravid did was to accept ganguly back...a deadly mistake...

take gaurd, saurav has been the best and easily the most consistent performer ever since his return, and kudos to him for that. its people like u who give rise to rumours of rifts inside the team, so be patient and wait for the big three to click. and my suggestion is to get Sachin and Saurav to open the innings and get Ashish Nehra fit and in to the team to get some potency in the attack. Also ask Munaf to start bowling fast again, god only knows WHY every fast bowler becomes Medium Fast after gettin into the Indian team. Then its high itme Piyush Chawla is groomed and prepared, now tht the great Anil has hung his boots.

His BngDs performance was way better than many others. If someone needs to be blamed for that matter then ask Dravid! He might be involved in a bigger game!Who knows?

Kudos to ganguly for destroying teamindia-wake up you blind supporters.Use your brains(if you have any)before it gets too late.
Hi everyone, Everybody is searching for reasons for the India's debacle in the WC. I think that the chairman of selection committee Mr.Colonel is more responsible than anyone. Remember.... he is the one who leaked the news that dravid insisted on sehwags inclusion in the team when they are embarking to WI. He should have released this news after the india's campaign in the WC is over (who know india would have emerged victorious but for the pressure created by media based on colonel's remarks). Releasing this news put unnecessary heavy pressure both on sehwag as well as dravid. BCCI did right in taking serious exceptions to these remarks of Mr.Vengsarkar. Also, Pathan should have played in the WC in place of a batsman (Uthappa), since he could have scored as many runs as Uthappa scored and had also strengthened the bowling. OK agreed that he is out of form in bowling but who knows on the seaming wickets he could have succeeded. This is the fault of tour/team management. Hope atleast now we come out of regionalism and support the indians. Also I request not to support the media because the pressure created by media and sponsors is also one of the biggest reason for our team's debacle (early exit) I also request all the indians not to watch/purchase the products endorsed by the indian cricketers and PLS. DONT SEND ANY SMS/TALK TO CRICKET ANCHORS/GUESTS TO THE CHANNELS SO THAT THEY CANNOT GAIN ON OUR HARD EARNED, PASSION FILLED MONEY.

Hey, Guys n lovers of Indian cricket what you think? Do u agree with me?
RAHUL DRAVID IS A GOOD BATSMAN AND A GOOD WICKET KEEPER. DRAVID'S AVERAGE WAS VERY GOOD WHEN HE USED TO BE A KEEPER. BUT THE REALITY IS DRAVID LACKS LEADERSHIP QUALITIES AND HENCE CANNOT BE A GOOD CAPTIAN.THAT IS HARD TO SWALLOW BUT A FACT FOR INDIA SOURAV IS BEST HE SHOULD BE GIVEN CAPTAINCY BACK THE NEXT PLAYER WHO HAS THOSE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES IS YUVRAJ SINGH WHO SHOULD BE GROOMED TO BE A CAPTAIN BY SOURAV.

kaif.... we cant select a player just for his fielding.. and the irony is that he has dropped as many catches as any other fielder in the indian team.. he cant be selected only for his ground fielding

Dear Harris, Dont you u think Karthik or even Kaif will be too young to be deputy!! We need person with good experience and aggression for both- CAP and V. CAP!!
lets figure out wht qualities he possess for being a captain of Indian team: -Does he able to unite team? -Does he bring feel good thing in the team? -Is he aggressive nd exuberrant enough, to take bold decisions, yet taking team with him? -How inovative his thoughts are? -Is he capable enough to take team single handedly to victory. -What is more important, Dravid as a captain or player?
