by Chakram on Apr 02, 2007 10:13 PM  Permalink
For your information, BCCI is an independent body and is not controlled by media, public or Government. BCCI does not ask people to watch matches played by its team, it does not sell tickets to general public and as per its constitution, even Apex court can not interfere in its affair. So just shut and play in the hands of media.

I strongly feel this is the right time for:-

#1 Take over all the Sports including BCCI & hand it over to a Private Partner(s) to develop more (more Results, money would come on it's own!).

#2 Mandatory participation is needed right from the School level.

#3 Benefits of the Sports should be taught to the people (importantly, parents) by media. Good performance in sports does help the nation's image & pride!

#4 Minimum financial guarantees should be provided for the retired players (many sports persons suffer due to this!)

What Captain and coach do ,if players fail to perform in a crucial match.
by ranjit mohapatra on Apr 02, 2007 10:10 PM  Permalink

I think the players failed to perform.
The selection committee were responsible for
selecting not in form .
Captain and coach have to handle the selected team.
Captain did not do anythink wrong of his duties.
Dravid also performed well in the must-win match against srilanka.
He should continue as captain.

It's failure of so called seniors(they are seniors in letting down the team and the nation !!!)
by Sriram K. Bhagavatula on Apr 02, 2007 10:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The seniors like Tendulkar,Kumble,Sehwag, Ganguly developed an attitude that they are bigger than the game. All these players (except Dravid) found a (it's good to feel they bought the place in team) for a ceremonious exit, which they even failed to get with pathetic performance. I feel Dravid was facing immense pressure from the team members as, in the absense of Tendulkar and Ganguly we actually got close to winning a series out side India. That is the time BCCI should have cemented the position of Dravid and the coach. It's true we have hero batsmen at the cost of our bowlers on dead pitches(blame bloody BCCI for it), when our team is abroad it often fails to bat. We need to improve our pitches first and refurbish our selection system where bowlers are cannabalised for the sake of batsmen, bring in a international standard selection PROCESS, but not failed cricketers like Venkatapathyraju.

Most of the gentleman who were captain for the team lost in major events like WORLD cup, took
the responsibility and resigned. They said, they could not lead the team in right ways.
Examples are Martin Crow, Shawn Pollock, Joysuriya, Attapatu, etc.

If Dravid is a gentleman he should resign from captaincy, otherwise it means he a very CHEAP person.

He made lot of IDIOTIC mistakes resulted worst result in world cup history for INDIA.

Why captain only to be blamed.
by Kris vis on Apr 02, 2007 10:07 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's always common to blame the captain for the defeat, but this is a team effort. In these kind of critical situations senior people like Sachin should take the responsibility to tackle the game, but see how did he out against Srilanka. I am agree with Ian Chappell statement Sachin should retire now.

There is difference between a leader and a boss.
Captain is a leader where as CEO is a BOSS.

If whole team failed, why only Sachin should be blamed ?
It is Dravid and Chappell should be blamed and removed without delay.

Why Shewag played that type of shot when a amateur cricketer like me know that there is a slip ?
what is the need for our yuvi to run for sucidal wicket?
Sachin - No comments ?
Ganguly - No idea or whatsover to win that match
Dhoni - Absolutely no clue what a Class bowler Murali is (many big crikcter will not have guts to play backfoot short)
You answer all these to me .. then I raise mmy hand with u dude..

What about fitness?
by Arvind Singh on Apr 02, 2007 10:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why you didn't ask about players' fitness level and what BCCI is going to do to improve it?

As we have seen, teams like Australia have left India Far Behind in this arena and that is one area which now distinguishes Top Grade, Tough, Competitive teams from "also ran" teams like India. What BCCI is doing to change it?

Just introducing some contract system is not going to do it because many players get 10 times more money from external advertisements than from the BCCI contracts. Thus, a 20% increase/decrease in contract money is not going to affect them much.

We have already seen that players haven't worked hard enough to gain and maintain top class fitness. Much older players from sides like Australia are Far more fitter than younger ones in the Indian team. BCCI has to start demanding top class FITNESS from Cricket Players and allow only those who meets this criteria play for India.

Without gaining and maintaining the top class fitness to be able to compete with team like Australia, Indian team will keep sliding and will ultimately go the way, Indian Hockey did! It will become a source of constant national embarrassment. Time to act is Now else, it might be Too Late!

Looking at todays match, you can now feel how bandly he captained the first match ..Setting that aside some people in power (mainly from that part of the country) are trying to force stuff down the throat of the 'illiterate' citizens of other parts of India.

ITS SHAME OF US. BEING IN A COUNTRY OF MILLIONS OF POPULATION, WE CAN'T EVEN FIND 11 ALLROUNDERS. IF THE MANAGEMENT DON'T PLAY POLITICS AND DO THEIR WORK SINCERELY IT IS NOT AT ALL HARD. THAT IS WHY OUR COUNTRY IS BECOMING LIKE THIS. NOT ONLY IN CRICKET BUT IN EACH AND EVERY THING IT IS THE SAME. GOD ONLY SAVES THIS COUNTRY. ALL THE BEST TO MY COUNTRY.

About Team Management
by Jeffry Fernandes on Apr 02, 2007 10:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Greg and Dravid have no right to be coach and Captain, they have failed and there is no second chance for failing if India Team is to get things right. Yes its true players like Sachin, Dhoni need to be axed and made to prove them selves before next selection. There is vast players available in India and the superior player should be given a chance to play and prove his mettle.

Dear All,

I feel ll this discussions are purely a wastage of time and our resources.
India with a land of more than 1 billion people has only one sport cricket to talk of. Its a real shame that we have discarded other sports the eflection of which can be seen in Olympics.
Its high time we fix goals like China and establish ourselves rather than creating a mockery before the whole world.

With Dravid as Captain we have only lost in the first round of DLF, Champions Trophy and World Cup.

India have still to lose to Bermuda,Angola, Namibia etc. Till then Dravid will be a ASTUTE Captain.
