Who can remain?
by pradeep poolakand on Apr 10, 2007 08:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

These members can remain in the team:
Robin Uthappa
Irfan Pathan
M. Dhoni
Harbajan Singh
Rahul Dravid

Shewag should be temporarily dropped; but he still has left some cricket in him. Then, the rest of the slots should be filled by young blood. It's for the selectors and BCCI to do justice to Indian cricket fans who have lifted the world cricket to greater heights. They need to remember one thing that Indian cricket team has never done anything great (except for the 1983 team); it's only because of the cricket crazy India fans that the world cricket has scaled the dizzy heights. If this fan following is to be sustained, then the BCCI cannot keep ditching Indian cricket fans. A mass of people cannot be fooled in the longer term.

Indian cricket is vitiated with money, money and money. nothing else. the board should be cleansed of this cronies who do not care for the actual game. then they can talk about the team. cancer is there. board is ruled by politicians. what result can u expect in this situation except some platitudes, soulless harsh words, machinations, manipulations, hype and nonsense. the players and the real players are all hand in glove. the real fools are who watch the game.

And what has made a useless cricket fan like come to this conclussion that Sachin has played for records. You will be saying the same nasty things about players like Yuvraj at an opportune moment I am sure. I think it is more to with jealousy for the money he has made. If you weren't useless you would have made some money in your life too.

Player's Agents are the cause for this SCANDAL
by Juzer H on Apr 10, 2007 02:18 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

These players have made BIG BUCKS, at the cost of our country's pride and honour.

If BCCI does not act now, the players will take us for another ride.

Let only players with passion for the country represent the country in tournaments like World Cup.

There should not be any place for selfish players and their agents in the true Team India.

Stop being jealous of the money the players make...the game is global and moved on. they make their money because they are talented and good enough to play for their country and it is not at the expense of our country's pride and honour. The players do have enough passion for the country they represent. Just by failing in a couple of matches you don't become useless overnight. Indian teams do lack the mental strength in some tough situations.

Scrap BD tour
by Minto on Apr 09, 2007 10:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There is nothing to learn from a minnow like BD. They are the most inconsistent team. They were involved in match fxing against India and South Africa. None of their players would even qualify to play for weak teams like Assam and Orissa. Send India under-19 instead.
India should play with teams that are at par with them. Cancel BD tour and extend England tour by another 5 or 6 practice matches against top county sides.

Man i think you are one of those guys who just reads the news and forms opinions. I say so cause you dont seem to have followed the matchs closely. If you did you would not say that about BD. Yeah Ireland is another story I might say inconsistent and all that u said about them (except match fixing) but not BD. If you see by the skill they showed. They might even win one more match. As far as consistency goes. yeah they are not consistent but is India consistent?? Is WI consistent? And so BD.

My point.

But, do you think I am wrong to observe that they do not have a single player that would qualify to play for Assam or orissa, forget Maharashtra or Bengal (West that is)?

I am no fan of BD. Come on give them a break. They did deserve to go to the second round as they have rightly won crucial matches. They have indeed beaten a few good teams and the recent match against england they atleast tried to defend their meagre total of 143. They got 6 pommies packing for 114 ( am i right on that count). I remember in the sixties how we used to fare against the giants like Sir Garfeild Sober's Windies or the Bill Lawry's Aussies. We were sitting ducks. Going by Mintos logic Windies or aussies should have sent under 19 team to India. I wouldnt have the priviledge to watch Either Hall or hunt or Bynoe or the the wicketkeepers of the class of Mike Hendricks or McKenzie. In the end who knows BD might turn out to be a good team in years to come. Our cricketers have to get their acts straight. Let us not worry about who our team plays.

Don't include seniors in the team for one year!
by Juzer H on Apr 09, 2007 08:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a matter of principle.

It is matter of India's pride.

The current lot of so called Senior Players have brought disgrace to the nation.

In order to prove their point, BCCI must suspend all the non-performers from the team for at least one year.

After one year, if they can match the fitness and strength of the Australian Team Players, they may be given a chance, but on merit only.

Equally responsible are the Selectors who chose such lazy, tired, weak and incompetent souls to represent our great country. All these selectors must be replaced, right away.

Barry Wood of Lancashire was fat and a Test opener for England. Every morning, he would run up and down the galleries in the stadium at least 10 times. That succinctly defined FITNESS.

WC 2007 - Semis - Who will Qualify ???
by Vinod Kamath on Apr 09, 2007 06:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Half way up in Super8..Interesting article compiled by me..

Here are the present point level after all teams have played 4 matches in the super 8 level( given today NZ will beat Ireland)

Team Name - NEXT 3 MATCHES - PRESENT POINT LEVEL
=================================================
Aus - IRL SL NZ - 8
NZ - SL SA AUS - 8
SL - NZ AUS IRL - 6
SA - WI NZ ENG - 4
Eng - BG SA WI -2
WI - SA BG ENG - 2
BG - ENG IRL WI -2

TO REACH SF - (MIN-MAX Points required)
========================================
SF Top Qualifier with MAX Points after super 8 can be 14 (Australia)
Teams with 10 points after super-8 level WILL qualify for SF spots 2/3
Teams with 8 points after super-8 MAY STILL QUALIFY for SF spot 2/3
Teams with 6 points CAN STILL SCRAPE in..But last spot.

Aus - IRL SL NZ - 8 -- 10(IRL) Sure - 100% SF spot-
NZ - SL SA AUS - 8 - Win gainst any 3 teams ensures SF spot
SL - NZ AUS IRL - 6 -- 8(IRL) sure- before that win against nz or aus, SF spot sure
SA - WI NZ ENG - 4 - Need to win atleast one but two games for ensuring SF Spot- Win against WI/ENG could eliminate opposing team.
Eng - BG SA WI -2 - Need to win all 3 especially one with SA..atleast two(include SA win) to scrape in
WI - SA BG ENG - 2 - Need to win all 3 especially one with SA..atleast two(include SA win) to scrape in
BG - ENG IRL WI -2 - Need to win all 3 atleast two..May spring a surprise,if SA fail to score 2 wins !!

Interesting in the next 3 -4 days
=================================
SA vs WI on Tuesday- WI lose, they will be eliminated (very impt. match for all the bottom 4 teams now)
ENG Vs BG - Whoever loses is out almost..If BG wins,it would tilt the scales !
SL Vs NZ on Thursday- Will determine SF2 and SF3 Spot mostly..Whoever wins could avoid Aussies in the Semis !

n for India..Ravi Shastri..All the best..Its not gonna be easy especially on fast pitches..having said that bangaldesh tour, wont be easy..take the "super heroes" and see them struggle again..In a way,It may put an end to their careers therby giving chances to youngsters, from trips after Bangladesh tour !!

NZ can be at top if they keep their winning streak and win against Aus. In that case, NZ will enter Final and lift teh cup. SL also have the chance. NZ/SL can win the cup if Aus is eliminated in the Semi.
