I hope ppl will now stop supporting foreign teams/clubs..now we have our own city based teams, represented by our cricketers who make our country proud. Cricket is also our religion..so we must ensure it styas this way and India overtakes the aussies in no.1 rankings. What fun in watching sachin/dada bat,habhajan/sreesanths agression and talent, zaheer's pace etc. Cricket brings us all together!

Sandeep, I am afraid that not many will agree with you. What is wrong with following or supporting foreign clubs especially in football (where we are probably 155th in the world)?
In regard to our local stars, we need to see their talent first. Barring Dada, none of the senior players have done anything of note. Either it is the foreign players or the Indian youth who are excelling in IPL.
English Premier League (EPL) is probably the best organised and popular. But is dominated by non-England players (even Giggs is technically from Wales!). Some clubs like Arsenal do not have many England players!! Even Chelsea and Man U have only a few players of England origin. Nowadays there is a proposal to restrict the number of foreign players in England football!!
But it is true that foreign players really help improve local talent. England's cricket team was strong when counties did not have any restriction of overseas players till 1980. But once the restriction came into force, the standard of England's cricket came down rapidly.
So, let's encourage competitiveness by bringing in foreign players in IPL!Shane Warne, Shane Watson, Husseys (Mike and David),Mcgrath, Jayasuriya,Sangakkara,Morkel, Hayden, Symonds are all showing far greater commitment than Bhajji, Rahul, Laxman, Yuvaraj and all the fancied India stars. Only Dhoni and Rohit are showing great class.

ckt is a nuisance & nonsense game. If not for ckt Ind wud hav produced a good football team..
I don't agree. Cricket got prominence because (1) it was widely played all over India (including West Bengal where football was religion until 1980s (2) Unfortunately Hockey and Football were seen as regional sport (Punjab, Bengal..); cricket too was dominated by Bombay but once the stranglehold was broken by Delhi and later on Karnataka, it achieved a national status
The rise of cricket was only after the India team started winning especially in overseas (1971 when Ajit Wadekar won in West Indies and later in England). Until then football had better fan-following.
Once India won the World cup in 1983, cricket's popularity shot up. It also coincided with the dramatic increase in TV transmitters across the country in 1982 (for the Asiad). More people started watching cricket.
Of course, watching a Test match is like watching a soap opera - you don't need to be seeing it all the time!!

football is most entertaining game of the world ,in india cricket is worshipped but worldwide football is worshipped ,while watching u cnt take ur eye of it,i m arsenal supporter they r also doing lot for indian football they r selecting young kids from india for training,if right steps are taken to develop football we cn do good ,u have tasted the entertainment of ipl try epl ,i watch bth n i find epl is far more entertaining thn ipl where match depends on single performer whereas in epl whole 11 players r involved in game ,in cricket at a time whole attention is on either bowler or batsman at a time
He's the old wine...! Gets finer by the day. Overall, Manchester United played like true champions this season. Although they were a little shaky at the beginning, but got in the groove at the right time and hit the jackpot, so deservedly!
