Schumi and Senna
by Rohan Bidi on Dec 24, 2008 06:21 PM  Permalink

It is impossible to say who was better, but in my opinion Schumi would have to edge the great Brazilian as Michael Schumacher was a complete package, he could rally his team around himself like no other. Remember its a team sport. The pit-stops, the strategies with Ross Brawn & Jean Todt, designing & mechanical inputs to Rory Bryne and finally his unmatched racing speed and overtaking ability - they would all set him a class apart. Aryton Senna's legend will live on forever and Michael Schumacher's records may never be broken. We haven't been blessed with the most titanic rivalry of all.

Senna vs. Schumi !
by Smaran Mandala on Jul 05, 2008 07:05 PM  Permalink

Formula 1 is a great sport and like all other sports it has its legends.
Greats like Senna and Schumi havent raced too much against each other.
I only have watched senna in a couple of clippings on the internet....i grew up watching Schumi reign in the fantastinc motorsport.
But even then....the things i have read about Senna have led me to strongly believe that he WAS and IS the most talented drivers that ever drove an F1 car.
I wish i cud go bak in a time machine to watch some of Senna's races.
Senna vs. Schumi wud have been a gr8 contest....but unfortunately we have been denied that !
long live Senna!

Ayrton Senna is great, Schumacher is great. But what do you derive from this sport? You, yes, YOU!
You remain a spectator. Except for a priviliged few, this is a spectator sport, unlike cricket or soccer or basketball. Think about it.

Look cheatmacher celebrating in joy even though Ayrton was serious. Its a shame, the death of a legend and a gentleman gave rise to a cheat and an oppurtunist

Forget the post race interview. Did u see the last race of 1994 how Micheal went on to win his first championship by banging into Damon Hill?

Any day I would always say that Senna is the best driver who has ever driven a F1 car. No one can surpass him. Though Schumacher has statistics n records. But one cannot take anything away from Schumacher. He would definitely come next to Senna, for few may be equal as we have not seen both driving against one another. Before seeing his celebration image in this article I read a comment that he is celebrating too much. But after seeing I realize that it's only a restrained smile. He was young when he won n we have so many aspirations. It is not that you should not enjoy your moment when something has happened to others, with due respect to Senna. You should know the contributions of Schumacher in improving drivers safety n overall safety measures in F1. And not to speak about the numerous charity work he is associated with. You see how Alonso is behaving.. 'cos he is young n soon you will see him mature. Everyday so many soldiers die protecting our borders for our safety. Does it mean that you are not supposed to enjoy your moments in life. If it is like that.. the race should have got cancelled. Probably Schumacher would have had the most difficult in his life driving that race. We never know.

Greatest ever
by Nithin Nath on May 01, 2008 08:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have watched few of Senna's races on TV back in school days.. read a lot about him on the limited automotive print we had back in the 90s. My uncle had a great collection of motorsport videos. Many of them featuring great rally drivers like Ari Vatanen and many great runs of Senna behind the wheels of the Lotus. This guy.. or i'd say superhuman is undoubtedly the greatest ever...No wonder they say "Senna - In life unbeatable, In death irreplaceable". I remember i was back home after my english exam paper in 9th grade and got to know of his death.. infact only on may3rd! i cried of 2 days for someone i never even knew personally! even my parents though i was acting wierd! :(

I would love to relive my life in an age where the greats like Stirling Moss, Mansell,Senna,Rindt,Stewart,Hakkinen & Fangio race together on similar machines! Long live the legend!

Nitin, i share a very similar story to yours.... i had just finished my 10th board exam - and was enjoying my summer holidays - when i read about this sad incident...

i wore black for 3 days afterwards!!

and how beautiful it wud be if the greats were all allowed one race - same machine, same conditions!

well - i guess that goes for any sport!

i am not sure if many people reading this would have seen senna behind a wheel.also new 'kids' brought up on a diet of bhajjis/dhonis/deepikas/ etc etc.
article reminded me of senna's days.though schumi is nicknamed 'rain master',senna was a far better driver than him in most circumstances, rain include
d.my tributesa to him

dude....F1 is an extremely complicated sport with lots and lots of rules.
If u start understanding the rules then i am sure u will be captivated by the FASTEST SPORT and the MOST EXPENSIVE sport in the world.
Only a few elite make to the F1 seasons every year....unlike other sports whicha has so many newcomers every year.
i cud go on for hours....
but try knowing abt the sport a lil bit more....
F1 ROX!
