what abt their future?
by attacker on Jul 19, 2008 12:00 AM  Permalink

its a good news. we all r congratulating them. now, we all r expecting the same results whn this team bcom senior. but, nobody here is thinking of their livelihood expenses. in india, thr is no money n scope in sports. no support frm media or public.. in this scenario, they not only have to think of their game but to think of their future livelihood too.. this is the reason we r behind in sports.. if our govt assure that they will not b having any financial prob and then they can only concentrate on their sports and bring laurels to nation.. but who cares.. govt dont invest money, until public is interested in sports.. and public get interest in those things only that media shows.. and media is only interested in trps.. so, no hopes for india in near future..

Hockey v Cricket
by Ram Chauthariya on Jul 18, 2008 10:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We were on top of the world in hockey when only a few selected countries played hockey.

We are in the middle of cricket rankings when only 7 countries play the game. This is the state of Indian Sports. How many people think we will win any Olympic medal in Athletics or any other event?

State of Hockey
by Ram Chauthariya on Jul 18, 2008 10:25 PM  Permalink

We seem to compete well in junior but lose frequently at the senior level. How come other countries overtake us in just 2-3 years when these players become seniors? Pak, China, Korea are in Olympics, we are not.

This does not sound right! I hope Indians are NOT fielding over-age players as alleged. Congrats to the Team.

Korea does India

Usually India tires out in the last minutes but this time, the Koreans did when they were leading.

In Hockey we won Asia Cup in Cricket we lost, so these players should get paid well, and get better attention from media coverage, Cricket is a lost deal, they go for money, greedy BCCI sucks like bugs

BCCI has become too autocratic. Now they banned Indian players who wanted to play with English counties because those counties have ICL players on their teams. Shame on BCCI.

Anyway, only reason we are ranked number 3-4 in cricket is because only 7 countries play it seriously

Let us build on this
by Baldip Singh on Jul 18, 2008 10:10 PM  Permalink

First of all congratulations to the Indian team. Welldone and keep it up. Excellent performance.

We must translate the results into senior level. It can be done by nurturing, developing, coaching and managing this team (and other players, both senior and junior) in a professional, planned and a well coordinated manner. This is where Ric Charlesworth would have been very immensely beneficial. That is lost opportunity, and looking to the future a foreign coach/manager/professional who understands the modern game is needed. We owe it these youngsters to bring the best in them and do not want what happened to Deepak Thakur, Gaganajit, Kanwalpreet and others. There is no quick fix here and for instance when a player is not playing well, he needs support/help/uplifting and so forth. It will take time to build a senior side, but there has to the will, determination, accept change, accountability, and the right resources.
Let us hope that happens.

Congratulation!!! and my best wishes for the future
by Agnelo Paul DaSilva on Jul 18, 2008 10:04 PM  Permalink

Congratulation!!! and my best wishes for the future. Keep the Indian flag flying high.

I have gone throygh many messages reagrding fielding of over aged players. I don't know how far is that truw. But if so who is to be blamed for this? Players or Federations?. Our sports federations in Indian r become like political parties. Gone are the days where selections were done purely on performance. Now it's all GREASING..........OF.......--------
