We saw a match of high quality tennis. Never have we seen World No 1 & No 2 slugging out in a 5-setter in a Wimbledon like yesterday. This was a match of high quality where both the players refused to give up. Finally the better player on the day won. I\'m watching Wimbledon for the past 23 years, actually since the time Boris Becker won the 1st time & have never seen anything like this ever. No rivalry whether Becker-Edberg or Agassi-Sampras matches this. It\'s too early to write off Federer because he too was amazing yesterday. After being bull-dozed in the first 2 sets, it was a great comeback by Federer. Rafa was amazing & if he continues this form the world of tennis is set to look at another era of domination like the one Federer has had so far.
I think this was one of the best of the Wimbledon finals i have ever seen. The standard of the game and the quality was so high,it did not matter who won, but tennis was at its best
We also go ga ga over the number of times someone has won at a particular event. Becker featured in 7 Wimbledon finals. Winning 3 of them. 1985, 1986 and 1989. Losing 1988 to Edberg in 4 sets, 1990 again to Edberg in 5 sets, 1991 to Stich and 1995 to Sampras in 4 sets. If only those 4 setters and 5 setters could have been converted, who knows? That's why he's one of the greatest at Wimbledon. In spite of only 3 titles. Because of the sheer level of competition he faced. The same holds true for McEnroe. He has three Wimbledons and two 5 setter final losses to Borg and Connors.

I would say that the Borg Mc Enroe final of 1980 was the greatest of all time. I would also vote for Mc Enroe and Edberg being the greatest players of their generation. One feels that while Federer would come back, he would slowly cut back on his engagements and veer slowly towards retirement.
While Borg had an icecool demeanor about him, he was actually sweating it out inside and his fragile temperament broke after he lost to Mac in 1981. But he would always be remembered as a gentleman and a sportsman.
We have this tendency to term whatever great things that happen in our era as the best ever. This one will go down in history as one of the best ever. A great Wimbledon final in a long long time. The Becker- Edberg 5 setter finals from 1988 to 1990, the Borg-McNroe and the McNroe-Connors finals in the early eighties were also some of the very best.
This can be easily remembered as an all time favourite match for many. Up and downs making it all the more interesting, even the frequent pours did not ruin the interest of the onlookers who were hooked to their seats and so was the Sports Minister of India. Indeed a match to watch again and again.
Well, You cannot say as you dont see most of the finals in the past. But it is the best final I had seen in my life. I am 32 now and was watching wibledon for almost 10 years. I believe that this is the best one I have ever seen. The comeback from Federar after loosing the first two sets was remarkable. The 4th set tie-breaker was also critical after Nadal got 4-1 lead. But I am disappointed as am a great fan of Federar as most of the ppl in the world who watch tennis. In wibledon also, the support to Federar was huge. anyway hats off to Nadal. You are a true fighter and a true champion. So this is best final for this generation. The other final that come close is of 2001 where Goran Ivanisavic won the title def Pat Rafter. Thats all I can say.
This was certainly the best finals of lawn tennis we have ever seen ..... Nothing was clear who will win till the last minute of the game .... two great players ... great game .. what all we wanted to see ... the game was wonderful..
