until the olympic association is governed by politicians indians should not expect anything from our sportsman. i have read a statement from one of our politician in one of the leading newspapers " we should not expect miracles happening at this olympisc. it will take time".
every olympic year same words comes from our leaders. its a shame.
better we should not participate in the olympics or better send only those sportsmen who have atleast a chance of winning,
we should not send the sportsman with no medal hopes and hope miracle to happen , its better we can utilize those money in improving our sporting infrastructure and prepare for future olympians.
we should not send quantity to olympics but we should send quality.
Indian Govt., should make sponsorship for Olympics by companies is tax free at the time of achieving the medal and till sych time the money spent should be allowed tax credit. Then perhaps, pvt firms will produce champions otherwise they continue to waste money on Tendulkars,Dravids&Ganglulys who will score once in 2 series to retain sponsors and team place
I always felt that the money generated out of cricket has to be syphoned out to improve the conditions of other sportsmen/women. I do understand that cricket is functioned under a board/club. But, if they want to play for India, a huge portion of revenue generated out of it should be given out for other sports. By, the by, do cricketers deserve to get so much of money if they play for our country?
India wish good sense prevails and people like Kalmadi and that Raja ,I am forgeting his name but appears in photos with him always ,resign before we see our final performance in China.
Inspite of all dirt, our real players really deserve best wishes. GOOD LUCK INDIAN PLAYERS!
It will not be out of place to mention that most of our so called Olympians have already achieved what they strived for , A PLACE IN THE OLYMPIC TEAM, unfortunately that's the maximum they expected from themselves, they will go , visit Beijing, have pics clicked come back with an improved CV, with one of the achievements as REPRSENTED INDIA IN 2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS.
We should not blame only the Athelets, Mr Kalmadi, who has been brokering various admissions and ommissions for several years should make way for a dynamic performance driven person, instead of carrying on with sick political agenda

Our Olympic contingent will have more officials than players, led by the corrupt Kalmadi. We should follow China's example and have a voluntary Olympics BAN for all players till they are capable to produce at least a medal. Let us plan for the 2020 Olympic Games and save some of the taxpayers hard earned money rather than having these morons splurge around.

On second thoughts, if there were medals for lawlessness, indifference to others, corruption, etc. we INDIANS would be on the top of the medal tally.
"the two things that haunt India -- lack of a strategic intent, and lack of leadership" - you hit the nail on the head, Rajeev. We are strategically perhaps at the bottom of the heap in the world.
