DO NOT MIX SPORTS WITH POLITICS
by Bharani on Apr 10, 2008 02:06 AM  Permalink

Olympics and Sports should not be used for political reasons. Even when Iraq and Afghanistan were attacked, their soccer teams were playing matches.

We should be against the political cause which is disrupting the Olympics and not support it. I respect what Sachin is doing.

Amazing!!!!
by QS on Apr 09, 2008 11:05 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Amazing how Sachin took rest from two tests vs SA to became fit for IPL, playing for India is more important for a high caliber player like Sachin.- in the end what Gavas said is correct.

As a Maharshtrian let me say this - This proves that Sachin is not only just a commertial guy he is also unscrupolous!
by anir on Apr 09, 2008 12:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sachin should be stripped off all his money.

And the money should be handed over to the families in Tibet who are the victims of chinese atrocities.

Same should be done with Aamir.

These guys enjoy democracy for themselves and their families but do not want to support it for other people...

Self-centered and obnoxious!

At the least these unscrupolous celebrities can do is support the Tibetians and their cause, at least, in principle.

Olympic is Politics
by Dipak Bose on Apr 08, 2008 05:11 PM  Permalink

China is the organiser of this Olympic to gain publicity. Those who would glorify the vanity of the Chinese are indirectly supporting the inhuman policy of China towards Tibet, East Turkistan, Manchuria, Mongolia and Taiwan.
Olympic is about Politics. What Kalmadi got to do with Olympic? Is he a sportsman?
Olympic torch is guarded by about 20 Chinese soldiers. Is it Politics or just pure Sports.

Sports and Politics apart
by Nott on Apr 08, 2008 11:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We should treat sports and politics apart. Olympics is an international event where almost all countries across the globe participate. The location where it is being held is ir relevant here . The most important thing is how we can group together and make this event a success. Please do not introduce the political thoughts here

The same folks who cry for Tibed would support for the JIHADI movements in Kashmir or LTTE in Srilanka ,ever where a section of people fight for freedom or Autonomy. I'm not supporting China here,if there is a real cause and sense of human rights violation there are enough ways to fight it but not by absconding a global event which is being followed for centuries.

Let EUROPE/USA stop using Chinese products to show their support for TIBET.. The first company that will get affected would be WALMART which is the main shop where most of the average or less income people buy their daily needs..

Try to impose diplomatic pressures on china. I'm not supporting china here but we should act in a positive way to resolve than by boycotting/violence which will never end the issue. I do not know being in INDIA and claiming Gandhiji as our Father of Nation but involve/support violence for such cases

Sachin should not carry
by CEEERAM on Apr 08, 2008 10:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Sachin
I feel you should not carry the torch. We understand that u want to convey the spirit of Olympics but being a celebrity, you should see the suffering of the people rather than the happiness .
