Unfortunately for bhutia, his act is not going to change a bit of Chinese and Indian minds. As usual the bollywood crowd will associate itself with the torch relay and make us feel like its a good glamour show. And our govt gives a sh** about sports anyway. How do I know this? I was a national level sportsman myself. So I know.

some indians like bhutia and me are staying away from the olympics not because china is hosting it, but because human rights have been violated.
yes human rights are being violated elsewhere too. but we dont have the opportunity to show our solidarity with them.
china happens to host this olympic and this is a good opportunity.
by boycotting this olympic we are trying to show not only to china but to the whole world that the human lives are more important, human rights cannot be violated anywhere.
what happens if we miss couple of olympics and save few lives? is that not going to be worth it?

sorry..! u got it all wrong buddy..! its about human rights and freedom.. If Tibet wants freedom, why does China forcefully want to silence them..
Y cant they make a stand and hold talks..
We are against cruelty of chinese towards tibetans.. otherwise y would some european and western countries boycott Olympics.. they dont have any border dispute with China..!
Come on Mamata Banerjee and team, Medha Patkar, All India Trinamool Congress, Bhumi Ucched Pratiradh Committee. Where are your guts now? You all protest when the lands of poor farmers are captured by Govt. Where is your voice now? Where are your arms and armaments that you used to fight with Bengal Police?
Why dont you people protest against Chinas brutal capturing of Tibet and why dont you protest for the freedom of tibet and Tibetans? Why dont you support Dalai Lama? Cant you protest against China? Cant you protest against the wrong being done to Tibetans?
All you people are hypocrites. Next time dont protest in Bengal. Understand?
I salute the spirit exhibited by Bhutia in refusing to carry the olympic torch. I consider that this is the greatest act of solidarity by sacrificing, may be a life time opportunity to carry the olympic torch and may be risking his sporting career.
Your same hero would have sobbed if he was not invited to carry the torch ! Now, being invited, his Buddhism comes to the fore not Indianism. Yet, you find a hero in him. I pity you !

What has this got to do with Indianism? Questioning the official line is not unpatriotic. India's foreign policy has boiled down to not offending anyone under any circumstances.

Why did Bhutia not think about Tibet when he took the crown of being the Captain of INDIAN Football team ? Tibet issue did not arise just yesterday nor did Olympics ?
What is more important to us Indians ? Rosolving China/Tibet issue or being part of an international even like Olympics ? If Olympics is not important, you all have no regrets for India getting disqualified in Hockey ! Right ?

being captain of Indian Football team has got nothing to do with china but this act does. Bhutia had shown a courage which many Indians have not despite they have feelings for Tibet. If u r not one of them.. it's your choice.

James, do you agree bring called a representative of your sect/resligion than representative of India ??
I don't. I am an Indian first and expect Bhutia to be an Indian first too. We will separately deal about dispute with China/Tibet, China/India.

unfortunately, all INdians like you and me are not invited to carry the torch...it is the privileged, estwhile olympic medal winners are invited..and they are Indians....as an INdian, after getting the invitation, which is a rate opportunity, if someone sacrificed the same for the sake of expressing solidarity towards tibetians, it is a matter of applause...which the so called secular government of India did not do. Olympics (sports) is a symbol of peace and harmony and China has no moral right to hold the olympic after torchoring the people of tibet

whether it is territorial or not, it is a matter of humanity and torchoring and massacring of innocent people with dictatorship.

Where did he say being buddist he is not carrying the torch. he said as human right being voilated he refused to do so. dont forget sikkim was also a disputed land between India/China and more over he is leaving personal glory, and not insulting Nation or defering a national duty as torch carring is just a symbolic gesture.

Does it matter just look at green peace or any org. Will you go and tel them you are from Norway dont talk about Environ issues in India!!!Get life man.
Bhutia, you seem to be the only indian with some backbone.
after tibet, its going to be arunachal pradesh and then sikkim. what you guys (chinese supporters) gonna do then.
even if india helps china in hastening tibet takeover, what is india going to get. more chinese products, in the name of free trade or good will, to flood the indian market.
lets grow up man!!!! (which i doubt indian will ever)
Bhutia is not an Indian with a backbone but he is the one claims to be a Buddhist. Being Indian is not important to him. It is a shame that he represented India in Athletics because even then he thought he was a Buddhist not an Indian.
Now about supporting Tibet or China, the result will not be that China gives back disputed territory if we support them in this.

do not support tibet , rather than fight for what is rightly ours ( arunachal pradesh and akshy chinn) when usa cannot challenge china , why shud we spoil our head over petty issues (tibet) , we want our land back and tibet is not our land and china is right in claiming that , and india has assert the same rule.
I am an Indian. Being a Christian/Hindu/Muslim is my personal choice. That has no influence over my standing up for my nation.
If an event comes for me to represent my nation or Churcn, I chose the former. Church does not give me a Passport or carry me home if I am stranded in a foreign land.
It was so much needed and on time to come forward and stand for the cause of Tibetian brothers & sisters. Baichung the real hero and a perfect personality as always leads when many other just prefers to be silent

he is not trying to solve anything, he is just showing a symbolic protest for a highly symbolic act of bearing the torch. By the way what did u do to solve the arunachal pradesh incrusion just few days back, it problem of our house only if u consider Auranachal pradesh as part of ur house that is you think India as your house.

i dont think there is anything wrong in making a stand. bhutia made a stand. so am i and so are you. you dont want to be against human rights violation, fine. but let atleast someone stand against that.
anything wrong with that ? if you have a problem, then i think there is some thing seriously wrong. wrong either with bhutia, me or you
