HI, mr Nair, pls dont be negative & make fun about the budget and talking nonsense of having a gutters n ditches. we should be happy n appreciate that India has made a break through in F-1 Sports, which was only for Foreigners as per our language. I am workin for Fomula-1 in bahrain, with the British Company which organises F-1 in most of the countries. This is a moment of joy4 all of us.n will pour Foreign Exchange which will help our country to grow. All da best India.
Hi Guys In 700 Million 500 will go to kalmadi nad crew only remainign 200 will be used for the development of track and can expect gutters and ditches in the F1 track for the first time in the history.
This is perfect as long as monies invested are not from budget, domestic savings.
It is grotesque to believe that organizing F1 racing is the means and end of Indian Olympics Association. They should put their effort in locating more Budias and train them to take a shot at Olympic Gold with their managerial time. Do not waste reams of paper and time on this kind of sport that is the pursuit of monied few.

een i dont like the IOA useless people to be invlolved in the project . But the problem is that as a protocol, F1 HAS to deal wiith the local sports authority while establishing a new venue...
"3 BHK Deluxe flat, with CCP, 5 years old, VERY NEAR TO UPCOMING F-1 Track" is for sale immediately. Brokers Excuse. Fast appreciating." This is an ad in last weeks property page in a Delhi news paper. What to say ? This is how our economy booms.

Dumbo who wants to live beside Grand Prix track. The person and even you are nuts.
Contract maybe for 10yrs, but if certain min expectations aren't met (not to mention min amt of sponsorship raised) then the races are taken away. Spending 1500 cr on a track might be worth it to get a F1 race but knowing our Indian organisers, perhaps not for this country.
THe amt of things that need to be perfectly in sync for an F1 race is mind-boggling! THe new centres like Bahrain, Malaysia & Shanghai had tons of experience of hosting big events successfully before getting into F1.
Well there are schools in India which have no proper roofs in the classrooms.....no blackboards to write.....But we have money to build a f1 track costing 700 million .....I feel ashamed of this attitude of the politicians and a few of you here who believe this will benefit the country...Open your eyes people...Good luck for those who are truly going to enjoy this masterpiece...I wish this money could be used to build good schools...I wish kalmadi and co took the same interest in building good schools....sad stuff indeed

You are right Ravi. But we know that the money which we give to the government through taxes, so that they can build schools and other basic amenities for poor poeple, does not reach the destination. It diverts in the pockets of corrupt officials.

we have the money to buld all the roads and schools and hospitals, only if yu had woken up earlier and thrashed them then.we are in this state because of scams such as the 30000 crores ruppees PDS ones. why are we so averse to f1 ? our entire infrastusture will be improved with the money thats poured in it. its not that the track will go waste after the race. we will have a world class facility for every motor sport enthusiast and the industry to trials etc. i dont think yu have even read or thought in these lines. just fire away blindly.

Has anyone thought about the environmental damage caused by cars zooming around at top speed? The people who run F1 (ecclestone and party) have their air conditioned cars and 5 star hotels. The real victims of climate change will be the poor.

Use some commen sense man. How much environmental damage can a dozen cars do? I imagine compared to 1 billion plus cars in the planet it is pretty insignificant

Guies be positive. Just think this will create atleast thousands and thousands of jobs directly and indirectly. So many people will be employed and so many will get direct and indirect benefits.
F1 or motor racing is not about only driving and its not like cricket. A lot of mechanics e.g. machines involved in this sport. It is a high end technical sport. Teams like Mclaren spend around $500 million as their annual budget. And think in a week how much each team will invest in India indirectly.
India is growing and people are technically strong hence F1 cannot ingore tapping a hugely talented market neither India can afford to loose a great job market.
F1 is a huge sport and this will give a huge job oppurtunity in sectors like travel, tourisim, IT, steel, manufacturing and and many many which we cannot imagine.
Also this will be a shame if we donot open ourselves for this kind of highly rated sports where direct/indirect benefits are huge.

i agree . not only that . We all know TCS is the IT solution provider of Ferrari f1 team . After a precence in F1 , more & more teams will outsource their Core engineering activities to India. However i do feel as Delhi has been hosting many other events already other cities should have been preferred . W/e im proud of this :)
This certainly is a great achievement for the indian sports front. Bringing an F1 race to India finally is a dream come true for all the F1 fans in this country. Finally.....INDIAN GP will become a reality on the F1 calender. wonderful!! and to all those people who say that it's a waste of indian money...dont worry...the F1 sport (a single race) generates enough money in ticket sales, space rent, team rent...etc. to cover up all the expenses made on buliding the track in a very short span of time. so just chill...and enjoy this Fantastic sport.
What a gem of a news. F1 coming to India, and is a dream come true for F1 fans. But, yes, I'll stick my neck out and say I fear with this useless Kalmadi at the helm of affairs it might end in embarrassment. Already, the commonwealth games seem like doomed. And hope, these people are aware of the stakes involved when you have to host F1. If successful, it could prove to be a big boost to India's already growing stature plus of course a treat for F1 fans. I am already salivating.

i agree but the problem is that the F1 management has to deal with the local sports authorityin order to establish a new venue .so dealing with is IOA is unavoidable
