see guys,i basically do not watch too much tennis, but from what i have seen ;sania has a good game...yu must remember that tennis has become a speed game rather than a skill game..notice how the williams sisters win, based totally on the fact of their "enhanced physique" if you know what i mean...sharapova too seems to have "filled out" quite a bit in the last couple of seasons...and of course we do need women role models in sport...Sania does come across as level headed and attractive and godd on court...its only creeps who try to pull her down.never mind girl;keep it up

this is not a easy job, playing with sharapova, you are great, it is a great experience, you must have learned a lot, try, try, try, one day you will succeed. all the best to you, all the Indians are behind you.

It cant be a learning experience, she lost to Sharapova 6-1, 6-2 in 2005 and 2 years later there is no imrovement same score. After next 10 years also, the score wont be any better!

OK scoreline is same. But how can you say no improvement ? Sania has improved but so has Sharapova !

sania when she went down in ranking everybody thought it's over, after sugery, she is back , if she continues playing yes she will win titles, her presence has to be there in the international tournments, as she plays, she will win

susheel , learning experience doesn't mean with sharapova, she has gained cofidence, she can beat other tough opponents, it is not that easy to beat no 1, understand.
A quiz for those who are praising Sania for her (great!) performance... (1)Who was the first person from India to win an Individual medal at the Olympics? (2) India has produced world champions in a few individual sports (not team sports) - what are these games and who are the champs?

wel abraham, for the quiz it was khashaba kadhav in 1956 who won a bronze in 'kusti' and its been billiards, snooker, chess, etc in which we have produced world champions.
now for the hype part.. ok it might not be great that sania reached semi and final of tier 3 and tier 2 event.. and lost in tier 1 event in 4th round.. but on the way she did beat 4 players in top 20.. so if u consider her performance in past year or so.. this one looks good.. ok stop calling her great player but atleast she is in top 35 of world tennis players.. isnt that a achievement for an indian tennis player where singles players havent even featured in tier 1 event apart from exception of pace or ramesh krishnan and amrutraj brothers..let alone grand slams.. let her be where she is.. atleast she is tryin with all her limitations.. we can cheer for her even if she is far away from sharapova..

Mayur, why don't ppl like you cheer for Leander. He has won so many grand slams for india compared to Sania. there will always be more crowd to see sania compared to Leander. I dont see any logic, well except one...

Well, there are more champions.. in badminton, remember? By the way I get irked because the press does not like others who do well.. remember a lady called Sania Nehwal? She is the first Indian Woman to have won a 4 star badminton championship - the 2006 philippines open. Why doesn't she get similar coverage? There is more to media coverage than performance!

abhiram you are fit as a quiz master, please do continue , i hope media will focus on you, praising is a positive quality of a human being, please learn the same, even at your home or office, or friends , when they don't praise for the good things you do, you get depressed. ok
Defeating two top-20 players is definitely a step up to her top-20 goal. I am glad to see Sania bringing back some truly good news after quite a while. I hope she continues to focus on training rather than publicity...I hope she starts being more selective about her tours and spends more time in-between training and resting.

Yes. Rahul. Its time that she takes one week rest before the US Open. It seems she is going to play next tournaments...!
If you dont take rest and play for 3-4 weeks in a row, there are more chances of physical and mental fatigue...!

Tennis is an individual game and sania is not representing India in WTA tournaments. But when ever she represented India, She did well. She already said that her goal is to be in Top 20 and she is well on course to achieve that. How many people in this forum or rather India have achieved their goal. Thing is Sania knows her limitations and is playing within her limitations. Let her gain experience and play even better. She can beat any player on her day. Not for nothing Sharapova is ranked 2nd in the world. I am proud of Sanias achievements.

Cricket being a team sport, few brilliant players can cover up other medicore players in the team.Where as in Tennis if you are medicore(like most of the men in India), you wont go beyond club level.

I bet in cricket if you are medicore, you wont even reach ranji team. and you are talking about men in india being medicore, consider this example Leander won more grand slams for India compared to Sania but he never shows like he is champion.
