Leave her alone
by nathan on Nov 11, 2006 01:30 PM  Permalink

Sania is a human being first, then an Indian..then a muslim or anything else.. for heavens sake why dont u all leave her alone..

do u think all the religions fighting and arguing with each other like this, can ever bring the peace (which all these religions) on earth..

so why dont we all put evryth thats so debatable with so much heat, aside and look at the positive aspects of the picture or whatever..

or go see the wayside flowers and enjoy its smile..look at twinkling stars in the night..or the raindrops or the dew...

live for harmony and peace first, then for ur religion..if u cant live in peace with ur fellow being whichever religion be yours, chuck it..come out of it..its not a true religion or ur interpretation of ur religion is wrong..

There is no compulsion in religion:Quran
by yawar on Nov 11, 2006 01:26 PM  Permalink

In Islam, there is complete equality betn men and women in all respects of duties and rewards and a difference in responsibilities in relation to the nature of their creation. One is not superior to another;only different in terms of some responsibilities, like the upbringong of children.A women has a right to own property and income. She need not share it with the husband at all.On the other hand a wife has a right in her husband's property and income. It is the duty of the husband to support the wife unconditionally.A woman has right to marry any Muslim of her choice and Muslim mother has the right to be paid to bring up children including nursing them if she wishes so.She has the right to divorce the husband even without his consent and she can have this writen in her marriage contract whereas the husband can divorce his wife only for specific reasons in the presence of 2 witnesses after first exhausting all avenues of resolving differences. The wife has the right to recieve the Mehr(bridal present)and not to pay any dowry at all.She also need not serve her husband's parents or family.Get one religion that gives so much rights to a woman. If not, please read the
translation of Quran.

Religion Burqua
by Umesh Chander Tyagi on Nov 11, 2006 01:24 PM  Permalink

Friends,
I feel that the dress and the eating habits are governed by the climate and not the religion. My little knowledge is that in the days when Islam was in the initial stages, the kabilas were moving from one place to other and there was no central leadership. In desert to save the body and to save the women folk from the enemies, Burqua was a must. Now with the progress made and the spread of knowledge, there should be no controversy on the dress. Yess, the dress should not be provocative and at the same time it should be comfortable to wearer so that it can discharge it duties more cofortably. For example, in the areas where Saree was the main dress, ladies have started wearing Salwar and the men have slowly changed from Dhoti to Pants, a westeren outfit.
It is not proper to fight over the tiny issue of dress.Rather we must think about the well being of the family which is possible with well being of the ladies of the house and not by dictating a dress code for them.
Umesh

Bluddy Ashok,

From where did u get this word forced.... who told u that women in Islam are forced to wear burqa... Just imagine if a woman is nun and wearing short skirts or revealing dresses she will be definately asked to change her dress code in order to maintain her stand as a nun... Likewise if a women is maintaining herself to be a muslim then she has to follow the rules if not she is free to do what she like... got me u ...?
