To uncritically equate Islam and Islamic fundamentalism with extremism is to judge Islam only by those who wreak havoc, a standard not applied to Judaism and Christianity.Fear of fundamentalism creates a climate in which Muslims and Islamic organizations are guilty until poroven innocent.Actions, however heinous, are attributed to Islam rather than to a twisted or distorted interpretation of Islam. Thus, for example, despite the historic track record of western countries in conducting warfare, developing WMDs, and imposong their imperialist designs, Islam and Muslim culture are portrayed as somehow peculiarly and inherently expansionist and prone to violence and warfare.

Seek the Truth
by irfan on Nov 11, 2006 01:54 PM  Permalink

Those who think that the religious scriptures need not be referred to as they were written thousands of years ago, please please read the translation of Quran. You will understand that whatever is mentioned in Quran 1400 years ago wrt Big bang theory,Expanding Universe, protective atmosphere, movement of sun, phases of moon, death of stars,Origin of life, barriers between sea,Isostacy,Mmountain roots,Embryology and the details in which they have been mentioned couldn't have been possible had it not been from the Creator itself as these things were discovered by scientists only 100-200 years before.Quran 41:53 says "We will show them our signs in the universe and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this(Quran) is the truth. Is it not sufficent in regards to your lords that he is witness over all things? "There is no compulsion in religion.Verily, the right path has become distinct from the wrong path".[2:256].For those who do not want to seek the truth and still think that they are right in what they say then "Allah has set a seal on their hearts and thir hearings and on their eyes there is a covering.Theirs will be a great torment"[2:7]

2. I request rediff not to publish sensitive issues

3. Women tennis player can't play tennis with dressing full.

Lets Boycott Rediff!!
by Radhika on Nov 11, 2006 01:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If my following words are found to be harsh, so be it.

Rediff Guys, You are simply senseless. Don't you have a moral responsibility towards the society? With media as a tool, you guys should create communal harmony, not instigate communal hatred.

Dont you guys have standards on what to publish and what not to?? See...Now that you have liberally posted all the comments that came to you, see the mess you have created with so many people fighting.

Rediff, Its time you guys start looking at other websites like CNN-IBN and feel ashamed of your standards. Just for the sake of publicity, dont instigate hatred among readers. We have enough terrorists already in all religions, we do not need anymore.

If Rediff resorts to methods like these to increase the readership, then I think its time we readers boycott Rediff and teach them a lesson.
