What Is The Big Deal?
by Kedar on Nov 11, 2006 07:23 PM  Permalink

If Sania Mirza has worn a Burkha or Hajib whatever it is what the big issue with it. I dont know why media wants to hype unwanted things. In India there are so many girls who normally wear western outfits but when it comes to some traditional place or function they do wear respective traditional clothes. She's gone there to pay respect to allmighty god so you cant expect her to wear her Tennis outfit.. Please let people pray in peace no one has asked for this kind of analysis. I dont find anything amazing in this news its better if Rediff focuses more on some creative things than posting things like SANIA wears a Burkha... You have got miles to go...

Pathetic press and pathetic papparazziiiiiii......
by Jay on Nov 11, 2006 07:06 PM  Permalink

my question is why press in India acting like papparaazi... In other countries we have this as a seperate division. Even registered dailies are doing this?? why??? why to politize this issue.. as mentioned by one of my fellow being, why should we care what she wears. Let that be a hijab or bikini?? who cares.

Please stop this
by Noor on Nov 11, 2006 06:46 PM  Permalink

To the Rediff Managment:-

It is none of anybody's bussines whether sania wears a burqa or a bakini. She is just a 19 year old girl.

What's the point?
by truthwhine on Nov 11, 2006 06:40 PM  Permalink

I just see bigots being bigots (on either side of the coin). People with prejudices voicing their prejudices based on ignorance. 28 pages of messages so far and most of them arguing the point of her wearing hijab/burqa - get a life - let others live their own.

Sania
by Minku on Nov 11, 2006 06:38 PM  Permalink

I don't even believe I am wanting to discuss....
On second thoughts what is there to discuss? But my guess we are all getting very very bored with our respective lives and thus indulge in these frivolities. Kudos to Redifmail for this snippet. Guess, you guys should join me in my boredom now....

We are proud of Sania !!! Thats it
by Amit Sharma on Nov 11, 2006 06:16 PM  Permalink

We all should be proud of Sania for the laurels she has earned for our country. Thats it.What she wears is her personal choice. When she plays, its for India and not Hindus or Muslims.

So, for once, Hindus or Muslims, let us all come together and appreciate what she has done for INDIA. Thats most important. No need to fight over it.

We will succeed as One nation, Unity is Strength. Test for us is to not be divided on religious lines, but to work together as one nation, one people who respect and tolerate others as well.

Islam

Have the Muslims thought why all the Muslim countries are in turmoil. Either they are fighting others or among themselves - shia sunnis and so on. INTROSPECT. If you dont know, let me tell you. Because a Muslim child right from the moment he opens his eye, sees the blood spilling out of an innocent lamb as a religious ritual. I appeal to all muslim young intelligentia to move out of obscurantist past to a more liberated future. For Allah's sake

Kudos to Rediffmail

Hi

I think its politically right to be critical to the press. and the same is being acted again.

I feel Rediff has done a good job of showing these pictures and another aspect of a person who is not only good at her profession but also understand the culture she is in.

She dresses appropriately for every occasion.

Or in other words I recall the name of the Shahrukh Khan movie "Phir bhi dil hai hindustani"
