Sorry, if some theatre wallah finds this too negative. But, let us face the reality.

Dinesh Thakur is a typical Indian theater personality: sensitive, articulate and very creative. Yet he often complains, people hardly come to watch their plays these days. But, they can't answer, the reasons behind such a downfall of stage. Citing the rise of cinema and television is the only answer they can provide, at best. The fact is, theater in India is so self-centric and superficial nowadays that it should hardly be described as a medium anymore. Today's theater mostly looks at doing social activism, making public statements and wooing government grants, rather than trying to raise their level of stage performance.
This author came across so many theatre wallahs over the last decade, and even chatted with Dinesh Thakur once about his tenure at Prithvi Theatres. They all gave just one hint: It's the theater itself that should take the responsibility for its own downfall and not the cinema, television or the rising Indian consumerism. It's their uncaring attitude towards the audiences, why the latter has stopped straying into auditoriums anymore. They are only interested in inviting each other to their plays these days, while the common theater goer sits dumbfounded and cluless, even as the formers honor each other with accolades in collusion with a few like minded print media critics. They can go to any extent portraying only the dark sides of India, if it meant getting foreign grants. Who cares about the good and rising India....it won't bring any business, so let us

They can go to any extent portraying only the dark sides of India, if it meant getting foreign grants. Who cares about the good and rising India....it won't bring any business, so let us forget about it, they summarize. And ironically you would see, their social activism and developmental work hardly ever brings any social change at the grass root level.
Better they gave up the habit of living on state and private charities, the defeatist attitude of enacting centuries old acts and adaptations, started producing something original and induced enough energy and sincerity into their works that the common theater lover would choose to start buying their tickets once again.
Tendulkar was not a Politcal Figure but a good Intellectual who is not liked for his open revolt.

The so called Pseudo Seculars are lacking good leaders those old Politicians who don't even win a seat while contesting elections are governing our country this is shame. The so called Pseudo-Nationalists are obssessed with somekind of phobia irresponsibly dividing country in the name of religion. So there is not much difference between those two Political fragments.Just Britishes divide and rule policy. Our politicians are also same some divide in the name of appeasing and some divide in the name of Religion. Both philosophies are dangerous to our Nation. Common Indians wakeup and decide we want.Don't let these Philosophies overshadow our future and prospects.
Sup with obsession with Vijay tendulkar... He was regional and nobody. IN rest of india, he is remembered as a person who wanted to shoot Narendra Modi... Modi is much important to India than Vijay Tendulkar who is an intellectual bigot, and shows his bigotry from behind artistic freedom... Narendra Modi Shakes India toward Hindu creativity, and an evolved path for glories of Bharat Mata. He is a one man army who shook the center into projecting a different view, and alternative to what had been projected from past 60 years... When Narendra Modi will pass away, and Hopefully after some 40 yrs in the future, the whole of India will cry.. That is given...

Your balancing act is inconvincing.. It has not been the nationalists in control, and if it talks Ultra pseudo nationalists to undo the damage that had been done in Past 60 yrs, i am all of Pseudo Nationalists at this junction of time... Leftist extremism should be counter with Right extremism for a sort of equibilerium that is desired.... Narendra Modi is a welcoming event...

Vijay Tendulakar was a extraordinary phenomena...He made that sentence just to create the sensation..I dont think he meaned it. He needed publicity which was missing from his creative life for past decade..
Har Adami ke pair mittike hote hain...Same is true for Tendulkar
