Omar's comments
by Venkat Thiagarajan on May 16, 2008 12:44 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think Omar has made sensible points. It is good to see a muslim leader standing up and talking to the muslim population about their follies. It is a known fact that atrocities were committed by Indian army. If someone believes army did not commit any violations then they are not being objective. However did the government take actions against army when there is proof, ye certainly. Certainly there needs to be a lot of improvement is army's dealing s with population. The commies who equate Kashmir with Tibet should see the plight of Pandits before opening their mouths. In short Omar Abdullah has spoken well

do you seriously expect army to be effective by being a mr. nice guy in a region where, as mohamad omar says, "Our educated, well-to-do relatives and neighbours were spewing venom 24-hours a day and we were mute spectators either mute in agreement or mute in abject fear but mute nonetheless". my take: don't blame those who put their lives on line for your freedom; and if you must pick up arms and jack nicholson says in that movie " a few good men" "defend your own self".

Mr pradeep you are right , if must salute our army and not put fingers on them, there might be some atrocities were committed by Indian army , but those have come always when millitants have killed there people and local people come for there resuce and give them shelter. So when army reacts and it is called atrocities. then hang all those people who killed indian soliders first.

Why blame Indian Army?
by J D on May 16, 2008 12:25 AM  Permalink

Blame yourself and those who preached violence in the mosques where peace should have been preached in the first place. Pakistan's ISI got in so deep in Kashmir and Indians hindus and muslims were among themselves. What a shame on these mullahs? What kind of future were they trying to provide for the future generation?

Patience is a virtue.

This is in response to Kafir khans message,
dear friend your heart is filled with hate, that is why you utter these shameful words against a person who even his greatest critics describe as the greatest man who ever lived.
John haart,a catholic in his famous book,'hundred',has placed the prophet at the no.1 position ,seven steps ahead of jesus christ.
I am sure your hatred has a background, maybe you were wronged by a muslim as a child,or maybe you love to hate.
When islam was at its infancy with only eleven followers, even at that time critics of islam used to write against the prophet.
People like you still do,but only difference is that now it is the largest religion in the world, with every fourth man on earth being a muslim.
We muslims pray for people like you who abuse us,as i pray for your soul now.you do your abusing ,i will do my praying.
No judgement needed.
God bless you and give you and your masters peace.

Kashmiri pandit should have joined RSS shakha earlier. The exodus could have been avoided. They were befooled by their own son - Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru, a hindu by accident, a christan by faith.

All these organizations RSS/VHP/BD are full proof cowards! Why they are not going to Kashmir and fight for Kasmiri Pandits? They can only make people like you fool by killing innoncent muslims here and there nothing more! Those who support know very well that they feel secure and protected under umbrella called RSS/VHP/BD which is goverened by BJP!

Kashmir Tragedy
by Hamzah on May 15, 2008 10:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I read Kashmir a Tragedy of Errors by Talveen Singh wrtittein 1996 and published by Penguin. The author conculded that the damages done in Kashmir are beyond repair by both the sides and there is no solution for this issue.

I am not sure if there is a consesnsus within Kashmiris regarding what should they do? Should they remain independant ? Become part of Pakistan ? Or Remain in India ?
If they become independant then their fate won't be different thant that of Afghanistan and pakistan.
Can Kashmeer be on its own. Current situation shows Indian part of Kashmit is better than POK.
What is the point in goign to Pakistan?
Pak is only for taking revenge of Bangladesh nothing else.

Riggining of elections from Indian side has given reason for the speratist to justify terrorism and Pakistan was/ is more than willing to support their cause.

Kashmiris and Indian muslims should realize that they have all the rights to practice Islam under Indian government regardless of who is in Power BJP or Congress.
Indian muslims are relatively more prosperous that Paki muslims, bangladesh and Afghanistan etc.
Islam / Quran / Mohammed never taught taking lives of innocents for no reason. It doesn't make political sense it doesn't make social sense. What did Osama or other terrorist groups achived in last 50 years after adopting terror tactics? Who is the loser? Is Kashmir any better now?

RE:Kashmir Tragedy
by Hamzah on May 15, 2008 10:22 PM  Permalink
Contd...
Even if terrorism yields results then also it is not recommended or suggested by Islam , a religion which prohibits to cut trees during the war time or put fire in the farms can never accept killing innocents in the name of Jehad.
Alas there is no Indian leadership to handle concerns of minorties sincierly. Spoonfeeding minorities and giving some facilities will please them in short term and win some votes but won't help in long term.

There is no point in muslims harping about their glorious past when they themselves are responsible for their current state.

Muslims don't need enemies to destroy them. Muslims have mastered the art of self destruction. They do corruption in masjid, urdu medium schools, and destroy their own community and its next generation and then complain that government not doing enough.

If Kashmir is given the so called freedom then it will go to dogs and there will be a civil war and looting by muslims from afghanistan and pakistan.

by Milind on May 15, 2008 10:52 PM  Permalink
Well written Hamzah.

That the last thing the Kashmiris want is to become like Afghanistan. Pakistan looses since their government becomes unstable, India looses due to terror attacks and most important the Kashmiris loose since it will become a terrorist place rather than a tourist place. What will be their source of income ?
