For the magnitude of the earth cake,the death toll is likely to rise amazingly & there is no wonder even if it be in lakhs as case of the worst that China suffered in 1976.With such scientific advancement,how China could not develop a precautionary machinery to get saved from the calamity?With all our progress in technology and science,some times,it looks that we are forced to believe that Malthusian theory of population does operate as is evident from the ruthless cut down of population by the nature.Though may look philosophical,India is luckily free from such major devastations except a couple of earth cakes in Maharashtra owing to our strong belief and implementation of well laid"Karmic principles" of not doing,not thinking bad of others.However,our close proximity to China geographically, leaves no room for complacency;we too need to remain on guard and keep our precautionary machinery in tact and alert.Typical of Indian mentality,we are in the habit of ignoring the warning signals of seismological authorities & crying over the milk spilt after every thing is over.Since the earth cake has also been felt in Thailand Vietnam and Pakistan,the need for India's too being ready with all rescue operations is all the more necessary.It is really pathetic that hundreds of students under one roof should have died tragically-no one- even our worst enemy should meet with such a heart rendering plight.Let us pray God to keep the loss of human loss to the barest minimum.

The real truth is other planets like mars, mercury etc. are also experiencing this warming!!!! This is not the time for harsh words. We need to share the sorrow of Chinese people, ordinary people who have lost their kids, near and dear ones. As the American saying goes, we are all in it together, i.e. on this spaceship Earth.

yes very true ! there are certain decibel of vibration which we can't hear but animal and birds can.... I remember an incident in 2002 or 3 (not sure about year) in south India...........seeing my cat behaving stupidly i told people around that something is going to happen and same evening earthquake came............so we have to observe our pets and other animals to find out any calamity cause they are so precise in detecting all this.

Ya thats currect. Animals are known to behave in a different way hrs before calamities. But we animals (Human beings)do not know how to read these animals indication of disaster. For eg. during the Tsunami that struck Indian subcontinent, hundreds of elephants, fox, dogs moved towards the elevated place in Srilanka sensing some sort of unusual signals. This saved them. Birds fly at higher altitude. even smaller fish start swimming in deep water. But it is all difficult for us to relate the reason. There is a Nobel reserved for whoever he/she invents a mechanism to detect the possible earthquake atleast 10 minutes before it strikes. Once we map all the geological movements accurately and synchronize the possible effects using a super computers it may be possible to detect but the accuracy will always be debatable. Ultimately nature is Great and above all our knowledge..
Please dont say that GOD did this to punish China. God kills everyone equally. 75000 died in Pakistan in earthquake. 1 million in Bangladesh cyclone, 80000 in UP earthquake, so on and so forth. So GOD is equally cruel to all human beings of all countries.
Also GOD seems to be crazy that HE kills only innocents and not the war criminals and terrorists. GOD is the greatest terrorist.
