Internal democracy does not exist in Congress party. All power is concentrated in Sonia parivar, consisting of Sonia, Rahul & Priyanka. All appointments in states and center is done by this parivar only. There is no election there is only selection by high command in the party.
Indira had destroyed internal democracy in the party.
Contrast it with the fierce competition in USA between Hillary Clinton and Obama for getting nominated to fight presidential election against the republican candidate.
Once upon a time Congress was very democratic with stalwarts like Tilak, Gandhiji, Nehru, Patel, Kalam, Kamraj, Netaji etc. Netaji once even defeated Gandhiji's candidate for the post of president. Now no one can go against the Parivar.
Sonia is ruling the country from behind the scene, without any accountability and responsibility. Anything good goes to her credit anything bad is passed on as the work of the govt and congress party organisation.
Two road shows of Rahul have flopped in UP and Gujrat. Still he was given another opportunity of road show in Karnataka and is hoping to b PM of the country, saying that he is young, as if he is the only young person in the country. Would any other non dynasty congressman have been given so much freedom, power and opportunity?
This gives rise to dictatorial tendencies, corruption and nepotism and is very dangerous in the long run.

The USA style debate would be difficult in India. Not just congress. People in any party.
Think.
BJP : Advani vs Bajpayee
SP : Mulayam vs Amar Singh
RJD : Lalu vs Rabri
Just pick up any party and crate a situation. You will find yourself in ridiculous situation.

- Friend,
It's not me. It's you who are confused.
We were discussiong the "debate" between polticians to represent the party in election, as happening in the context of USA election.
I was answering to your following quote :
"Contrast it with the fierce competition in USA between Hillary Clinton and Obama for getting nominated to fight presidential election against the republican candidate. "
But as usual, you forget the context.
Solution :
Read your own posting for the "context" of replies submitted by others.

Even in USA the worlds best democracy there is dynasty politics. It was George Bush (Sr) now it is George W Bush. In future it is going to be Jeb Bush, who was Florida governer .The democrates are no better. It was good old BIll Clinton then, now it's gonna be Hillary Rodham and then Chelsea will rule the roost. If the people want dynasies to rule what can any one do? and this includes the frustrated BJP goons too!

It is foolish to compare the presidentship of some relatives in USA with the dynasty in Congress. Hillary Clinton is struggling to get past Obama. In Congress Sonia, Rahul did not hv to struggle against anyone to reach at the top. Here only point that matters is that Rahul is Sonia's son.
Das' complaint of coterie around rahul would have been more convincing, if he had resigned before being dropped from the cabinet. Now, it would appear he has done it bec he has been denied power and wants someother party to take him over and give him power in their cabinet.

Inner coterie has been deleting my messages....
madhavrao, rajesh pilot, jitendra prasada....they were boot polishers of the gandhi scion..now their next gen continue to do the same..wat a pity..by the time the next general election comes, rahul will be projected as the PM candidate and these pilots and scindias will be his chamchas..

I don't think Madhavrao and Rajesh Pilot were, otherwise they would not have been bumped off so early in their careers. They were killed so that Sonia and her family's claim to the PM's throne remains undisputed.

What junior Sindia and Pilot doing? Did you ever heard of their names? They are slaves too, as their fathers were. In Congress, there are two things- Slaves and their Master.

All the 3 persons mentioned by u were not dynasty sycophants and were very powerful, unlike their sons. Scindia and Pilot got killed in accidents. I don't remember about Prasad.

They got killed by accidents? Any proof? Is not Rajib Khan fake Gandhi too get killed by accidents? They were perhaps eliminated from the Congress to protect the Italian clan.
Mr. Akhilesh Das's resigning seems a bit funny. While he was in the council of ministers, he had no issues with the coterie or Rahul or Sonia. Once he was dropped all the wrong ramifications and greivances came to the fore. It must be a joke citing this reason to resign when the entire world knows that all decisions/inductions/droppings take place only after Sonia & her gang of sycophants have ratified it. Mr. Akhilesh joined the party knowing this fully well. Why is he whining now?
