An undersea coast hugging pipe line which is at a distance of 40 miles from the coast
by Vishnu Sharma on May 03, 2008 11:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

That is a more feasible option.

It is beneficial to Not only Iran, But also Pakistan and India.

a) Pakistani Al-Qaeda sponsored militants cannot target it.
b) Its protection can be guaranteed by both the Indian and Pakistani Navies and harder for terrorists to attack it since it is under the sea.
c) All three countries can tap off it.
d) It may cost a little more but in the long run the expenditure will be worth while.
e) Since territorial waters extend to just 12 NM miles. It is clearly NOT in Pakistani territorial waters.

It is an IDEA worth consideration.

The pipeline is amongst the top 10 dumbest ideas our policy makers have come up with. Here's why:

1. Capital investments for this project run into billions. It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars per day to operate the pipeline. Either the government subsidizes this or we end up paying for that. This does not include transit fees paid to Pakis. I rather have this money spent on developing ONG fields on our soil/territorial waters.

2. Pakistan is a hostile enemy territory. The pipeline will be targeted by Islamic terrorists in Pakistan .Stable supply of gas is not ensured. It makes no sense to have our vital energy supplies running through such land.

3. Iran is neither a foe nor a friend. Its just business for them.

4. Developed nations are trying to get away (stop kissing arab ass) from fossil fuels. We should follow them. National security is energy security.

5. Its not a question of if but when the next war between India & pakistan will break out.
We know what will happen to our energy supplies then.

6. Nuclear energy one good option. Besides power generation it will increase our stockpile of Pu-239. there's nothing more satisfying than knowing we can fulfill 72 virgins dream of all pakis many times over with our increased stockpiles.

Iran and India
by Anand Mujumdar on May 03, 2008 04:39 PM  Permalink

Every country has independent policy towards another country. Iran was a threat to India when Shah was running Iran because he supplied arms to Pakistan during India-Pakistan war. At that time Shah was ally to U.S. At that time U.S. gave whatever nuclear technology Shah wanted. Except Shah U.S. does not find any friend in Iranian total population. Similarly according to U.S. a country or a person is terrorist if it attacks U.S. or Israel. This is proven from the book written by Mr. Advani in which he wrote that U.S. declined to help India to get Dowd Ibrahim from Pakistan. U.S. policy is getting less relevence nowadays. So do not worry.

India's lack of foreign policy
by Ahmad Nawaz on May 03, 2008 12:08 PM  Permalink

What can India achieve globally when everything it has to do with another nation is dictated to it by a third party as if it were a little girl coming of age guided by con artists. As an Indian Muslim I am shocked that even after so much chaos and wars with Pakistan next door if you were to ask any Indian official about what their policy towards this country is he or she would draw a blank. But when the masses are hysterically anti-muslim and somebody needs to get elected that politician will make sure he curses the hell out of Pakistan to get the ignorant crowd all frenzied (and hopefully vote for him). Believe me I am no fan of Pakistan. Even Pakistanis themselves dont know what will happen to their country tomorrow. What is sad however is, that India, even after becoming such an economic giant and producer of brainpower worldwide, has been unable to take troubled countries like Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh as its willing partners. And the claim that Pakistan is two-faced is not the reason, because if you were to examine any other nation carefully - in politics, EVERYBODY is two-faced. The indian govt knows this but it keeps expliting this issue because it gives the centre something to fall back on when poverty increases, inflation sets in, or troble starts to brew in other parts of India. So the point I am trying to make is that why does India still have a servile attitude to other nations. Why has it not transformed and trascended the stone-age mentality of racial, religio

India has no policy whenever a stuation comes where courage is required
Let it be Tibet, Myanmar or any other case.
We are afraid of almost every one.
Our foreign policy is driven by fear.
Iran is no exemption

India has amazing forein policy
by geela parul on May 03, 2008 11:07 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Come on folks I am surprised that people are blaming the foreign policy people.

The truly the worst we had ever was Natwar Singh.......Damn that as---hole !!!! who did not follow any rule in the book and had the habit of shooting his mouth off.

Our policies are well thought out and it is never made public. Whatever is said or made to look.......there is a huge chess game which goes on........ if declared in public, people would know how we think and therefore change their own gameplan and then it will be difficult for us to predict.

After the new-clear test ,why do you think we let the cat out of the bag that how we fooled the spy satellites. Because the opponents had figured out by then....so we knew we cannot do this again and now everybody is alert.

Dont rubbish our own people.
Give them respect.
We all are working for better good of the people.
We only want to do good and at the same time prevent ourselves from getting robbed and harrased.
In the process all we need is your support.

Thanks
