Wow, I've been reading rediff's news since more than a year but never posted. The only reason I post here is, neither does one poster take the time to agree with the other nor is there one response thread to the topic without containing the "diversity" of India. I'm sorry, but more than anything I'm aghast at the turn of insults because one is of a particular state or a particular religion. I'm an avid reader trying to develop more knowledge base of India's current state while trying to pursue studies in the US. I hope I would get to read more opinions that are topic oriented or atleast knowledgeably argumentative of the same.

The problem is that instead of posting thoughtful comments most persons tend to treat this as a chat site. Insults are freely bandied about. Symptomatic of Indian social aggression perhaps? On the street you find that it is fairly common to swear at strangers for minor reasons. Overseas they use the extended middle finger here we are ever ready to say "Teri Maan ki.........". It is almost as if everyone has a huge chip on their shoulders. Could it be due to the glamorization of violence in movies? The Hero is invariably a chap who can leap backwards for several meters dodge bullets and fling the villains about much like little dolls.
Dear sir, At one time at the discussion board I did recommend for the suspension of all staff connected with wrong doings in probing with the British national's murder. It is exactly what I opined has been put to action.
wow..what prompt action when a 'firang' is involved..the girl who had abortions b4 as well @ the age of 15..and also drug addict..But the thing is u can show good work when u deal with firangs...some people have slavery mentality in their genes. If any Indian case was involved there wud be no action.

That is a lame argument. Whether she had sex before she was 15 or took drugs has got nothing to do with someone's decision to kill her. I agree with you that being a firang, the case actually got noticed more but it may also be due to the heavy foreign tourist inflow in Goa bringing in substantial money and thus, the government trying to prove that Goa is safe for all.

While those "facts" may be disputable, you think she deserved to be raped and murdered because of that?
Sounds like you would also support stoning to death as well. Just like in Iran or Saudi Arabia???

I agree with you, but it will do India good if you stay away from regional attacks. Bengal gave us the likes Sri Ramakrishna and Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore and many more.

Yes, there was a time when it was said, "what bengal is today , India will be 50 years hence". These inefficient communist have bought it to this this pathetic state. We should learn to take criticism and not get emotional about it. Bengal is a synonym to regression today and that is a fact. People like Sandipan are responsible for it.

I was thinking since this case can affect truism the government will act strongly. Its really surprising to know even the top brass including CM, DG, HS involved. I am feeling pity for the poor doctor, suspension is ok for him but his life is in danger.

Atleast cases like these are bringing the corruption in light. People like those involved take bribe and show a blind eye towards their responsibilities. Corruption is going to be less in coming times but how soon we get this minimised is going to be the key for country's growth.
