Yes you are right. We must knock it off. I don't support MNS nor do I say Mumbai for Maharashtrians only. But when someone starts using abusive language, I have to answer in the language that person understands. I will knock it off becuase I don't know the true identity of this guy. There is enough hatred already. I don't want to add to it. Rediff, please take this article off this web page.

Is it saree or is it lungee?
by no south on Mar 20, 2008 11:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have always been amused by the peculiar sari/dhoti/lungee which ghattee women wear by parting in the middle. Just a sight of it makes me laugh. And of course, you can get plenty of it on the ghattee channels! But I want to ask the ghattees, what are origins of this diabolical dress? Aren't ghattees aware that rest of the India actually laughs at this?

Also Marathi women used to ride horses. They also faught wars. e.g. Jhansi ki Rani. A Saree parted in the middle is convenient for riding a horse. You were ruled by Mughals and Muslims. You never fought with them. Don't ask such questions. Read more about Maharshtra's history. We and Sikhs in Punjab are the reason why India is not a Muslim country. And during the British occupation it was Maharashtra, Bengal and Punjab who led all the revolutionary movements against the British. Tilak, Jhansi Ki Rani Laxmibai, Tatya Tope, Rajguru ( with Bhagat Singh), Vishnu Ganesh Pingale ( Gadar movement), Savarkar, Hegdewar, Gokhale ( Gandhiji's political guru) the list goes on and on. Freaking Bimaree. Lives in Maharashtra and doesn't know a damn thing. Thank god we are having this discussion on the internet. If you spoke with a Maharashtrian face to face, god knows what will happen to you.

Well, Marathi women respect their honor. Your women wear saree nor parted in the middle so that they can pull it up easily for easy access to "whoever" wants to have access.

Why be a second class citizen in a third rate country???
by Peter Parker on Mar 20, 2008 10:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When you can be a first class citizen in a better country. Frankly this article clearly exposes the myth that india is democratic. India is nothing but a bhaiyya empire. Why should we maharashtrians subscribe to this empire? Its time we kicked down this rotten structure and go on our own.
