Concentration of Development
by Pulsar on Mar 20, 2008 01:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If everybody sets up industries in Mumbai, then naturally everyone will be attracted to Mumbai. As there is very high population density in Mumbai, the quality of life will be low for a number of people. This is pure common sense. Let us see some encouragement of industries in places like Bhopal, Lucknow, Patna, Jaipur and Ranchi. When that happens, fewer North Indians will come to Mumbai.

Any famous ghattee?
by 1 on Mar 20, 2008 01:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

May be I am a prejudiced bhaiyaa. But has ghatteeland produced any famous author which anyone outside of the ghatteeland will know of? I know that the entire Thakre family is quite 'famous and talented' in that they are all great cartoonists/authors/poets/playwrights. That shows what a sad language Marathi truly is.

Is there any reason why Maharashtra is called as ghatteeland? What does the term mean?

Railway jobs
by Red Pascal on Mar 20, 2008 01:21 PM  Permalink

They were not or Biharis else the exams would ahve been held in Bihar, they were candidates applying forjobs released here, and coming for the exams which were conducted here- so Athale the moral of the story is that exams should not be conducted in Mumbai as locals here do not let people from other parts of the country give the exams for central govt jobs. Propogating lies like this and then you claim to be from the Indian Army and leading a Initiative for peace ? Your slant makes it seem the only Sena you would be a part of would be the Thakrey kind.

Half baked analysis to justify the violence of MNS
by Red Pascal on Mar 20, 2008 01:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The contribution to the exchequer is a fallacy, as is the thought that Mumbai produces all the money being paid as corporate tax. If Tata Steel Head quartered in Mumbai pays tax in Mumbai,it is not revenue belonging to Mumbai, Tata Steel in India does it's production in Jharkand. That is what the majority of the Mumbai contribution to the exchequer comes from, not neccecarily from business and revenue earned in Mumbai but from corporates headquartered here and filing returns here.
If anyone is responsible for the decline of the city it is the local politicians and not the center, it is the local governments who have bled the city and pandered to the rural areas as the majority seats come from rural areas. They have allowed slums to come up and bulders to run riot and not the central govt, they have ensured the continuation of the Mumbai rent control act that penalised the landlord and gives the tenants all the rights, and the metro is a local government issue, DMRC is not Indian railways but an independent body- you cannot have the cake and eat it too- no to central rule in Mumbai and yes to central funding of metro- and the mumbai local trains LOSE money and are not profitable, And incidentally Calcutta was the first to get a metro, a decade before Delhi- and the central govt or the railways were not involved in that either. So get your facts right before getting on your high horse Athale.

Mr. Athale I think you are born in India. So in process of your upbringing you have lost some thing that's why you are very much interested in making India.

Before you die I think you will definitely see 28 different India In Size, shape & people.

I hope not to see that one.
LETS TRY TO MAKE AN INDIA. ISN'T IT.

North Indians Go back
by krishna swamy on Mar 20, 2008 01:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

first of all congrats col. for hitting the nail on the head. But before i say anything let me introduce myself as son of a kerala palghat father and karnataka mother born and brought up in mumbai in suburb called dahisar which was then asamll village surounded by forests rivers and sea on one side. today the seashore is full of illegal settlers from every part of india and even bangla desh who built huts along the entire seashore under the protection of our former mayor mr. Hareshwar patil from the shivsena. I had the opportunity to see the birth of Shiv sena which started with slogan ' bajao Pungi! hatao Lungi'. One fine morning all my childhood friends suddenly realised i was 'undoo gundoo' and i realised i was not a maharastrain though i spoke excelllent marathi with a trace of an accent. but there was subtle difference. while they all went to the veracular marathi schools my parents put me in the Engish medium convent schools. But I and my family outlived the terror of shiv sena and became part of them and we grew up. worked all over india and presently settled with children in delhi for the last five years. my child hood freinds picked jobs in mumbai in banks and govt institutions while i chose the path of private enterprise i led a adventurous life they led a secure protected life. today I stay in delhi with my children who speak marathi hindi and english and know no tamil or malayam or kannada though speak all the south indian languages.

Ultimately now watching b

The Great AMC Colonel

The Great Colonel does not have recent examples. He revels in the fact that it was the Maratha kingdom that fought at Delhi, Agra & Panipat against the British and the Turkish Mongols.

MY MESSAGE TO HIM. THERE WAS NO COUNTRY CALLED INDIA THEN. IF THE MARATHAS FOUGHT AT THESE VENUES, IT THEN BECOMES ARGUABLE WHETHER THERE WAS ANY NATIONAL INTEREST THEN.

So the premise that the marathas fought to save India is questionable. The only thing they could have fought for at that time was either for kingdom expansion or for the defence of religion/culture etc. The culture in Maharashtra is not the same as the culture in North South or even east India.

So Dear Colonel please give relevant examples.

I am agreed with you since maraths were trying to rule at Delhi at that time.

Marathas were thinking that by winning the battle of panipat they will become the sole power in India and they will rule all over India. That was the main reason they were fighting against Ahemad Sah Abdalis. Due to this they didn't get the support of other states like Haryana, Paunjab and UP etc. and they were brutally defeted by Afghans.
