The Goan Govt. and police should not make fools out of them by over-reacting and booking the mother with charges of negligence. Whatever had happened, it is clear that the girl and her mother were not in good company and it was their mistake too. But Govt. cannot quote this reason and stop investigating in right direction, more so when the media glare is on it

it is not just the media glare. how does a foreigner know who to trust in India - which is one of the safer places? Also, since it is a safe place, bad elements will try to take advantage of the situation. Now, how do you or I (leave alone a foreigner) make out who is who?
At least for once the big players should be brought to justice in india. That'll keep some hope that law of the land is still potent. Almost all big rape cases have some rich n influential guy in it. Actually they commit the crime freely as they know the routes of escape
what happened is really very sad and shocking but scarlett and her mother are also equally responsible for this. All foreigners who are staying in the north goa beaches should immediately leave the place and should never return.

Why didnt u die fighting in the border Mr Officer. Hey where did u get those bullet marks in ur back from. While running away???
Scarlette's Mother is in no position to dictate terms of how the investigations are to be conducted. The fact that she left her 15 year old daughter with and unknow person shows her level of intelligence. Who does she think our Prime Minister is her ward boy???? She obviously is trying to push the blame on everybody else but herself!!! I think she feels that if she can prove negligence on the part of the administration she will get a hefty compensation.... FIONA YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DAUGHTER'S MURDER, YOU NEED TO BE PUNISHED FOR IT!!!!
I am happy that the police have suspended that idiot of an inspector who blindy tried to pass Scarlette off as just another suicide case, and happy that they have registered cases against the others who were involved in her death.
I would be happier if the Police would register a case against Fiona for negligence, if the law does not provide for negligence then she should be charged for aiding and abetting the rape and intoxication of a minor.
I do agree that the police should still investigate further and get some concrete evidence but to relie on some witness who calls himself or goes under the nickname of "Masala" is not good sense. 90% of the times these guys are the real ones responsible for selling and supplying drugs and narcotics.

In European countries, such crimes are very rare and level of trust is very high. So, you cannot blame her mother for trusting us. How would she know that indians are criminals at heart and are prone to rape her child?

i swear. Its embarassing nowadays. Mr Ze, Ward5 is empty in Agra Mental asylum. Kindly get urself admitted..
The Police, The Doctors (who had a supplement page to the first autopsy), The Politicians all are rogues and need all the flank they are recieving from the media and people alike for their plot to cover up of the murder, and the murderer/rapist. But anyone has thought and asked these questions of the Victim (god bless her soul) and her mother/family? 1) What was the girl (Scarlette) doing late night/early morning with bunch of guys (aliens to her - localities) without any of her family members, or friends and her mom with her? In an alien land, would anyone leave their daughter (15 years girl) alone, and go to/be at another place/state/city? (Scarlettes mother was in Karnataka at the dreaded time, this incident happened?) Which respectable Parent or concerned parent would leave her daughter (a minor) in aplace which they dont belong to? 2) A 15 year old girl drinking, snorting drugs, having fun with bunch of guys (localities), so late night? Which Girl (not an adult) would be indulging in drinking, snorting drugs and having parties with guys whom you dont know also...
I'm from Goa, and I know what happens on these beaches.. I have seen it all....Its a "HIPPIE's" life out there, especially these UK tourists (majority of them who actually are Hippies) who come to Goa...

She is 15 years old,a child. It is insane to blame her for not understanding all the intricasies of Indian culture and human nature. Her mother must accept some blame for negligence.
BUT,none of this is an excuse for raping a girl.A woman who parties upto 4AM is NOT public property. The ultimate question here is of our own conduct, how women are treated in this country. No matter Scarlett was a saint or imp,she didn't deserve to be raped and killed.

As usual, the criminal Indian mind is bent on justifying the crime. 1. Whatever she was doing late at night was her business. That does not allow anyone to rape her. Is there a law stating that you cannot be out beyond such and such time? And that you cannot be with men unknown to you? Is this saudi arabia? 2. If the 15 year old was into smoking and drugs, she should have been tried for faking her age (in case she did that) or the people who got the drugs/cigs for her should be tried (if she did not fake her age). That she was smoking does not give anyone a right to rape her.

yeah its a case of political unwill to fight crime also, so what Ravi is saying is absolutely correct.
It is sure that there is political interfierence, as the culprit may have political connection. Goa CM & Police are trying to save somebody. Please hand over the case to CBI immediately, as demanded by the mother of the victim.

u think the cbi is less corrupt.. it isnt fbi but cbi.. they r maha corrupt beaureu of investigation...i blame the victim n victim's mum more as not a single country is safe nowadays. if u stay in india or abroad and do such whacky things late nite u r bound 2 pay 4 the consequences.. i dun say tat indian govt is good but then ever country is the same.. so y burn ur hands in fire by hanging out in unknown places with strangers esp so late nite. wat's the point in later crying n blaming the natives n the country when u urself r not organized...
