That was for not paying up for the enjoyment mate. Come on she was a teen and into Drugs and that is enough a reason for the unfortunate incident. Had her parents groomed her well she would have been alive so her parents have no reason to go fighting the issue now.

Mess that is Goa
by Benedict Xavier on Mar 12, 2008 06:19 PM  Permalink

What an absolute mess. Just like always. Those in responsible places are the most careless. Wearing a uniform for them is for extra ciricullar activities.
An ir-responsible government. How do they relate to their families.

The Police are Capable .... Of Doing Anything For Money
by Vijay Pal on Mar 12, 2008 06:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The police in our country are capable of doing anything for money.

Committed a Murder ... No problem we will show it as suicide or accident, pay us a few lakhs.

Duaughter Committed Suicide ... We think you murdered her, as she was having affair, with boy you did not like ..Ready to believe you, pay us Rs 1 lakh.

Daughters Body ... Sorry we can give only after 3 days ... OK will give it today, pay Rs 15,000.

Every situation they know, how to extract money from helpless people ... Unfortunately citizens do not fight and everyone contributes to the bribes.

Goto Google or Rediff, search "YouPayToo" as one word and learn, how even YOU contibute to their bribes.

Aliens in our own land
by Srinivas R on Mar 12, 2008 06:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We are becoming aliens in our own land. Look at the media coverage that this incident is getting. Well, I am not against it as it is a serious issue. But,on the other hand, 2 weeks back a Canadian worker working in Sasken in Bengaluru molested a local girl at work and was torturing her for several months. What action did our govt. take on this guy? If it were in US or any other country they would have deported the foreigner by confiscating the visa. But in this case, I donot read about it or see in any TV news channel nor any govt action. Are our Indian lifes are cheaper in our own country? Is this how Britishers ruled us for 200 years??

They probably 'advised' the local girl to keep mum and shun bad publicity on herself. OTOH, they might have extracted some baksheesh from the Canadian to sweep everything under the rug. All happy, no? No clogging justice system, stops more personal damage, and cops are especially happy with a fatter purse.. If you read Indian newspapers, you gotta be able to read between the lines, buddy! :)

I don't know whether she complained or not. But the emails that the guy wrote which contained objectionable material demeaning Karnataka and kannadigas(because the girl was a kannadiga) fell into wrong hands and the incident came to light. She even slapped the guy once in front of everyone for ragging her.

use debit or credit memo to describe the transaction (name of supplier/customer, reference of goods), whereas an "avoir/escompte" is a "debit note" or a "credit note" to be apply on an invoice edited or received by the company.

Police Reforms
by Fab Reens on Mar 12, 2008 06:15 PM  Permalink

are way overdue. It's time they separate 'law and order' from 'investigations'. L&O can be done under politician control, but investigations must be taken out from politician control (kinda like the Election Commission). Only then we can all heave a sigh of relief at getting proper and speedy justice imho.

The media is doing a great job in tarnisihing the image of this beautiful state of mine.Goa is and will always be a safe haven for all category of tourist. After all if one takes pleasure in putting one's hands in tigers mouth, god save him.Can the media answer this question first.1)When the entire world sleeps at 5.00AM in the morning, what the hell the keeling family doing at the shack.2)Why were the so called 15yr lass(age is still disputed, maybe 18)in a state of intoxication and drugs.3)Why always blame the police when the inevitable has alredy happened. Can't it be prevented.Foreigners in GOA should answer my queries.

State is beautiful but full of correct Officials ,Conmen to take tourist a ride and Drug traders and traffickers. Places where we have Tourist money they tend to over charge on everything comparing to other parts of the country. Please tell me if i m wrong

Of course if drugs are easily available all the addicts will come to this place. I m not saying that this 15 year old girl is an angel, murdering her is not the issue. Coverup is the issue. Rape and Murders are unfortunate but incidents happening to all parts of the country but not the coverups.
