Corruption is in blood of most of the Asian people but, corruption should not affect on common man. In India only comman man is suffering because of Corruption so its becomming prominant day by day. In other countries they will not ask money for Death or Birth certificate.
Corruption in big economies are at a higher level ..but it never affects the common man..But only in India it affects us..where for everything thing you got to pay bakshish..

Not India, but our politicians definitely belong to older generation. The young India is increasingly restless, wants to challenge old ideology, try new things, and generally has 'can do' feelings which bodes well for the future. Hindu societal revolution has not yet begun, wait for their stomachs to be full, then see what happens...
Did any one ever pay for any software in India or USA..Every human is corrupted..It increases if econamy not in shape..decreases if econamy doing well..on Political corruption ..India don't have the system of raising funds ..USA doe it officially and call it raising funds...Now you wait and watch how much money Clintons will pay to get the votes of delegates ..they are predicting a lot ...So don't worry corruption is in every human being ...In my recent india trip i never paid any thing and took driver licence...Is it not a big change ????on all earlier ocations i remember paying a lot

Since you were a NRI, a relatively rich person, so someone might have paid on your behalf to impress you. Otherwise everyone is paying. Even head of one goernment office is paying bribe to another in order to procure NOC/ license/ etc. Ministers are paying for greater allocation to their ministry.

I had to pay for my learner's license. But then for my driving license I din't. These corrupters r waiting to cheat us. We shld not b ignorant. We shld b bold n straight fwd. Most cases we hv a choice. Instead of blaming the corrupters...I think we try our best not to give sparing our time, energy and patience. After all its our hard earned money..let it be in 100s for black-tickets or 1000's for house plan approval or lakhs to real estate owners while buying property. Almost 90% of the Indian software guys working abroad is saving every penny to repay his home loan and atleast 10 to 15 lakhs of the money hez gona earn is already gone into the pockets of real estate owners in the form of Black Money...Guys when will thiz stop?

Why should we pay for software? If we buy anything, we have right to sell it at wish. Why not for software. Good u will say its copyright ok.

What are you deaf, just ignorant, or you have ignored previous comments here? If you really study in IIM I'd expect enough brains in you... If you must know the names of depts. etc., just open your phone directory, go under State and Central govt. pages, close your eyes, and put your finger somewhere on the page. Do this as many times as you need. You'll have your list...

the most corrupt departments in India are (1) PWD (2) RTO (3) Central Excise (4) Customs (5) Income Tax (5) Commercial Tax (6) Sub-Registrars and last not least (7) Corporations/Municipalty. Least corrupt is Postal department and Telephones also joins them. Corruption in private is so rampant it is visible in plenty in export/import concerns. There is a cut in every clearance of import/export which is to tune of few thousands mostly involving the top management executives.

Start with IIM KOLKATA. Ask the director to furnish accounts under RTI - how many computers software have been purchased in last five years, and where those have gone. How the pupil fund has been utilised? how many students have got their caution money returned, what happened to those money? How many times his oficial car used for private purposes. how many institute's cooks are working in his private kitchen? lat time when minister visited the institute how much money was spent and account therof. There may be many questions, which you can frme with the help of fellow students, and ask under RTI.

From your English, it is apparent, on second thoughts, that you are not from IIM at all. They wouldn't admit someone like you even in reservation quota..sheesh!

Communicate man, keep communicating. It is important. Knowing perfect English is neither necessary nor sufficient condition for good communication.

At least you admit your English is not very good. As far as not needing great English, let me tell you, (as a retired director) that no matter where you work, you need to communicate effectively. And that happens only when you are proficient in your languages. So don't think you can be language-challenged and still get ahead. Time will tell you who is a real dumbo here. Wake up and smell the coffee..this is the real world!
