The Fact
by Mohammed Momin on Mar 07, 2008 01:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Muslims Rulers were very secular and have given rights to everyone without any reservation. Thats is the reason why We, the Indian people, did not revolt or overthrow Muslim Governments, as we have done with the Britishers. It shows clearly that PEOPLE WERE HAPPY AND CONTENT.

If one reads the History with unbiased mind, will find out that our Ancestors were known to be generous and Just. See around you, Tajmahal, RedFort, QutubMinar, Charminar and various other Tourist attractions that still contributes to nation's revenue until today. Isnt it amazing ??

As far as BJP/RSS/VHP are concerned, they are the biggest threat to our Nation.

Yeah, mughal leaders where so secular they had jisiya tax. They destroyed 5000 temples. All these are secular acts of mughals. By the way Shivaji was best friend of aurangazeb. People were happy and content with mughal rule that they started supporting british when they invaded.

Pl. dont fool yourself and others.History is a record of the past and good or bad it must be accepted. One can learn and not repeat the bad our ancestors did - no need to feel guilty either since the living generation did not commit those acts. Why are you trying to hide what are facts - accept it and say sorry if you must on behalf of your ancesors but dont deny.

Please get your history right, Mr. Mohammed. Probably your name would've been different, if your ancestors were not forcibly converted to Islam.

Aurangzeb executed Tegh Bahadur, the ninth guru of sikhism, for not converting to Islam. Aurangzeb demanded that all Kashmiri brahmins to convert to Islam. In his regin many temples were destroyed and replaced by mosques. Far from being secular he was a fundamentalist.

In mughals, the rule of akbar, jahagir and shah jahah was secular one. there was no jaziya for hindus and every religion enjoyed equal rights.
on the contraty, before akbar, babar converted/killed lots of indians and started the malpractise of jaziya. Also, after shah jahan, auranzeb again started the oppresion of hindus.

so, in total, mughar empire had both good and bad for india.

after auranzeb, the mughals became weak because of their internal fightings, which britishers took advantage to first capture bengal and then other part of india.

Controversy puts an end to Aurangazeb exhibition
by Hebbar R on Mar 07, 2008 01:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Since the protest was from Muslims, the authorities cancelled the exhibition. But, if it was against Hindus, there would not have been any such gestures. So much for "Secularism". Wonder where people like Teesta Setalvad, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, et all are and why no comments from them!!!

history needs to be
by Muhammad on Mar 07, 2008 01:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the most comforting factor for once was that there was no violent protest over this exhibition..and i hope it stays that way

Having said that the court should allow the exhibition to continue.

this is a dangerous trend and it needs to be nipped in the bud..we need a law which upholds the right of an artist to creative freedom, but ofcourse within limits (referring to M. F. Hussain who crossed boundries of creative license)

it is good that you agree that the exhibition should continue.

It is high time that all minorities realize that the so called secular parties are not benefiting minorities by paying lip service. They are creating more and more hatred. Actually, much more than what Thackery's can achieve. The spineless media is a party to this. Congress/commies have been playing the minority card since independence. Have they done anything for them? Certainly not. So, instead of playing this minority card, why not have all inclusive policies where religions/castes are private subjects?

@ kiran

i agree that the exhibition should continue so it would educate the masses and the muslims should learn to differentiate between what's good and bad for them.....they can't keep running around trying to ban/block anything that offends their sensibilities....and in this case i don't see what gets them so worked up.
maturiy is the need of the hour for us all indians...
