To Ms Indu Sahani and Rediff.com
by Alpha Male on Mar 07, 2008 07:14 PM  Permalink

You are doing a good job. However, be careful and aware that women are misusing the law to the hilt these days. A lot of women are crying rape or harassment just to make some money. Understand that anything is possible and don't assume that women are always right. Mumbai girls and other urban girls are in particular fully westernised and don't hesitate to cry rape. Further, when you talk about equality, why don't you start a helpline for men too? SEction 498A and DV act is highly misused. Please start a helpline for men Ms Indu Sahani. Thank you.

RE:Girls have to be educated, it will make India to be more rich
by Alpha Male on Mar 07, 2008 07:15 PM  Permalink
Mere rights of women without responsibility will create the kind of situation we are in now. Misuse of laws by women and unaccountability of urban women. Education of women and about their rights should be accompanied by their duties. Mere wealth is of no use.

Problem in India is that girls have all the duties and boys all the rights.........
by shobana nair on Mar 06, 2008 09:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is time that the boys and girls shared their rights and duties equally in this nation, the boys should get their rights only if they do their duties well and the girls should also get her right to live a respectable life. She should have a choice of just keeping alive and living a life of her choice.

Very true. The more liberated the weaker people including women, children and the lower castes the more civilized a society/nation.

Women's rights
by Pranab chakravarty on Mar 06, 2008 01:51 PM  Permalink

A laudable initative has been taken by the Mumbai Sherif Indu Shahani along with the rediffmail.com for creating an awareness among the people about the rights of women in the society. They are also dedicated to fight violence against women at home and places of work.My I suggest that they keep educational instituitions including colleges and universities under their scanner since a number of cases relating to sexual harrasment are taking place there? Many students suffer silently because of social stigma and in the interest of their academic career.

Root cause is over population
by abcl on Mar 06, 2008 12:07 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

girls are still behind in india due to uncontrolled population in india. some people give births to their children like rats and mosquito. We dont have enough resources to feed these mosquitos so educated class wants to keep their family very small and they prefer boys.

India is a male dominated society
by Sharad on Mar 06, 2008 12:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Indian men have still not learnt to live with women as equals (I am not talking about the cities, though even in cities there is male prejudice against females). It is time they get rid of this attitude and treated women with respect and as equals. Indian movies still show men slapping women. This is brutal. We need to make conscious change.

Charity and bias start at home. If you prejudice against women, you tend to think everybody else does. I for example do not think India is a male dominated society and it never was.

Mr. Sharad, look at the other side too. Discrimination is both ways. Women are abusing men and the media is demonising men. How fair is it?
