Do not use a broad brush to paint a gloomy picture of all NRIs. A number of NRIs have worked in India prior to going abroad. For example, a number of us migrated in the 60s due to lack of opportunities in India, with an intention of returning after acquiring experience and higher degrees. We got married to girls in India and are still happily married with our children working here. For your information, a number of charitable organisations from India come abroad and raise money through us. For example, my wife has raised a lot of money for a Leprosy/TB hospital in Karnataka. I give free lectures and conduct seminars at various instituions during my yearly visits. I know that there are more like me who contribute but do not broadcast their contribution. Like others have questioned, please let us know what you do and how much you contribute to the progress of the country?

Most NRI have cheated INDIA. They earned education from TAX-PAYERS money and settled in USA not returned anything to motherland. More so they show green pastures to innocent Indian Girls and marry them for 2/3 nights only before divorce. Such NRI needs IRON rod treatement.
Its so sad to see these things happen, shocking for parents .Most cases the students go there looking for greener pastures, lack of opportunity here in India being the main reason for an Indian to want to settle abroad or even study there.But in the event of such a tragedy one feels all the more for the parents of this boy who must have had big dreams for him.

how do NRI evade INDIAN Taxes? some countries have double taxation treaty with India which virtue of which NRIs are not required to pay income tax in India.
Also, there are lots of people in India who misreport or not file at all their income tax.
