I salute you, Sam Bahadur
by D Sengupta on Jul 01, 2008 04:24 AM  Permalink

It was in 1964. I had just completed my engineering from Roorkee and joined MES in HQ Western Command at Shimla. Field Marshal Manekshaw was then the GOC-in-C Western Command. On the eve of his transfer to Calcutta as the GOC-in-C Eastern Command he met each and every officer at the Shimla HQ. I had the good fortune of having a very warm handshake and a few words of encouragement from him. I still cherish that day as one of the most memorable ocassions of my life. He was a great soldier and a perfect gentleman. May his soul rest in peace. I salute you Field Marshal, a great son of India.

by Rajiv Mahajan on Jul 01, 2008 02:09 AM  Permalink

Sir , even after leaving this world you have been searving the country ( and the majority of idiotic voters )by giving an opportunity to evaluate the respect of the politicians towards the country and the defence forces.

At least now we should learn a lesson to vote for the right people.

Friends Dying for this country is a personal choice of the soldier(This includes all uniformed personnel). And it will not change because some tin pot President/Sonia Gandhi/Karunanidhi/Barnala doesnt come for the Field Marshal's funeral. If our Armed Forces had started bothering about these politicians, they would've abandoned the country long time back. These people show their calibre/ lack of it by not paying proper respect to the Armed Forces. But a time has come for the forces to show the uncaring nation what can happen if they desert their duties as done by the Legislature, Judiciary and the Executive. If that happens then God Save this Country.

I agree with Rajiv. We need to find another category for these politicians dogs as gods are very loyal and linking politician with dogs can mutate or degenerate our loyal dogs , then our loyal friends will aim for every chair & funds in house and pee on the VIP tables as these poli-dogs do in front of the TV .

Politicians will not work for non votes garnering excercise. Sportspersons, filmstars, businessmen death, etc.provides greater publicity with massess recollecting staple diet stories of their heroes.

Is War, Kargil, army operations, etc. heroes anywhere related to the above characters. Blame our politicians and much of the News media (pride in foreign standard - both uneducated), except make noise during these events.

IT WAS GOOD THAT THESE SELFISH AND POWER HUNGRY GOONS WERE NOT PRESENT AT SAMS FINAL FAREWEL THE PRESENCE OF THESE GOONS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN INSULT TO A GREAT SOLIDER AND PATRIOT AND A HONEST AND LOVABLE SOUL LIKE SAM.THIS SHOULD BE AN EYE OPENING TO ALL OF US.

THIS UPA GOVERNMENT IS MORE WORRIED ABOUT ITS SURVIVAL THAN THE WELFARE OF THIS COUNTRY.THESE GOONS ARE LOOTING OUR COUNTRYS WEALTH AND INSULTING GREAT SONS LIKE SAM,APJ ETC.

FRIENDS TEACH THESE GOONS A FITTINNG LESSON IN THE COMING ELECTION
