PM-not take things personally
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jul 06, 2008 01:55 AM  Permalink

The nuke deal is significant and immensely important not merely because of the access to N-technology and fuels, but it's a back-door acceptance of her as a N-power state.
yes, there are still other issues, but these will always be there, from Kashmir, Naxals/Maoists - even inflation, but these can be dealt with on a day to day basis - this deal on the other hand, has a shelf-life whose sell-by date is fast approaching. Don't allow the fetid Commie traitors to deny India her future energy security, so as they can please their Mandarin masters..

N deal-PM must take things personally
by Sushil Pathak on Jul 02, 2008 11:32 AM  Permalink

Though as a common citizen I am unhappy with this government yet I strongly support the PM's stand over N-deal.

Our PM is stepping towards a turning point at which a self cleaning process will start simultaneously. It would yield a good result for the countrymen.

So Let us support the PM's move.

Regards

Let us go back to stone-age...

The nuclear power is not harmless, Chernobyl like accidents are a possibility.

Hydro electric power - not good, too much environment is destroyed, people displaced.
Wind power - at the mercy of Wind God, not much happening
Solar or Hydrogen power - not yet economically available.

So, until Solar, Wind energy, or Hydrogen or some other green power source is made available, let us all go back to stone-age.

No transportation system to be used, no gas, no cooking, no additional electricity.

Use animals for transport, use telephone or internet for interaction / business.

Eat as much raw food as possible. Very healthy, keeps the doctors and medicines away.

Enjoy a stress free, healthy, and accident free life!

A long shot... what if the government were to divert a month's bill of the nation for fule consumption towards setting up solar power generation? Or, if we stretch it, what if it increases that outlay to 6 months fuel bill?

I think we can have more solar power soon. May be some solar energy experts could give some idea of how much it costs for 1MW of energy to be produced.

Taking things personally?
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jul 02, 2008 07:22 AM  Permalink

When did 'politicians' in this fetid land ever 'owed' anything to the people of this poor wretched, misgoverned land - they only think about power- getting power and staying in power, that's the sum of it.
Worse, there's no meeting of minds on anything - the parties are all in 'opposition' for opposition sake, never mind the interests of their country and the well-being of the people - their petty personal ambitions always comes first. THAT'S WHY POOR INDIA WILL ALWAYS be that - poor, and backwards and under-developed, forever mired in filth and squalor - a land with almost a billion poor miserable sods are living on less than $2 per day.

Although the Indian government wants to promote the proposed Indo-US nuclear deal in terms of power generation, the deal has very little to do with power generation. Nuclear power contributes about 2 percent of the current electricity generations in India.
Even if India were to achieve a 50% increase in nuclear power generation (which is unlikely) such a step would only increase India’s overall electricity output by one percent at most, and would only increase India’s overall energy output by a fraction of one percent.
The reason, USA is pushing so hard that India should accept the deal, is, that, this deal is nothing but nuclear non-proliferation treaty in a different name.

The real issue is nuclear weapons. USA do not want India to be a nuclear weapon state. Clinton said that openly, " I loath to even think think that India Pakistan are nuclear armed states". This is the real issue.
Those who have taken bribes from their American boss would support the treaty with the help of most corrupt politicians like Molaem Yadav and Amar Singh, but history will not forgive these new Mir Jafars.

Oh, so now the "peace-loving" communists want atom bombs !! When India tested its atomic bombs in 1998, the same guys protested loudly and made disgraceful remarks against our scientists. Indian communists = hypocrites of the first order.

I think all bangali/commi has habbit to see world from their own eyes and to put so called statistics to convince other ....for what just you want to prove something comes from your brain is the only way to see particuliar issue . I do agree the Nuclear deal is not as brilliant as it has been projected , but it is not as bad as projected by you. Overall nuclear deal is descent deal in this multipolar world...we talk about maximum option of energy for a sucessful nation ..not the % contribution in enrgy . My dear Friend we are going to spend almost more than 1.5% of GDP for oil subsidy, we are already spending 2.1 % GDP for our defence . What is not understood by layman that we have to think about next 20-30 years , not only about present but future as well . In future any nation is going to build by their economy and option of energy. And future will talk about option of energy not its gross contribution. A nation will be graded by how many option of energy is available them.

The gravity of Magnetic Money is so powerfully attractive, Sonia and her puppet PM will never bother of breaking the government or anything just to get the deal and it’s billions of dollars in commissions assured by Bush in advance of their promise to buy plants from the US...Then what matters is spend those billions in paradise on earth!

This money lured Mohan Singh will never bother of quitting his job as puppet PM rather PA to Sonia.
What matters to him most is what he will get in commissions in billions of dollars from those companies that will be selected to sell nuclear plants to India.

This PM does not represent India at all. People are suffering from high inflation, unaffordable house price and rents, unaffrodable medical expenses, lack of job, farmers suicides, but this PM is not at all interested about these pressing proble. He is more interested to 'save his face' to George Bush. Thus George Bush is his real boss and Sonia Gandhi is his deputy boss but the people of India have no meaning for him.

Worry about major issues
by Saba Pathy on Jul 01, 2008 02:19 PM  Permalink

Congress is more worried about N-Deal than that of current burning issues of Inflation and J&K. Whether the N-deal is on/off, whether the Congress holds the government or not, in the eyes of common man, Congress is losing its credibility. Time for election?!

USA will not support you against either China or Pakistan. China owns more than $500 Billion US Treasury Bond, money it has lend to the U.S. Government. All American companies depend on China for manufacturing. Pakistan is the NATo ally of China.

The Real Issue is Nuclear Weapons
by Dipak Bose on Jul 01, 2008 02:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Although the Indian government wants to promote the proposed Indo-US nuclear deal in terms of power generation, the deal has very little to do with power generation. Nuclear power contributes about 2 percent of the current electricity generations in India. At present, India was producing 3,300 MW. In 2020, the production would be 7,000 MW. According to the Planning Commission and the Prime Minister, the capacity of nuclear power would be 20,000 MW in the year 2020. In order to get there India will buy second-hand reactors from the U.S. to produce 13,000 MW of nuclear power. India will have to spend about Rs. 2 lakh crore for reactors and another Rs. 8 lakh crore to set them up with fuel facilities to achieve that goal. The Indian budget is only Rs. 6.5 lakh crore per year. Thus, India will spend two times more than the country’s annual budget on setting up these vintage reactors only.
