RE:indians and slave labour
by JGN on Jun 27, 2008 03:04 PM  Permalink
Mr.Rhazes Ashrawi, such things happen in other countries also. This month's Reader's Digest has an article about a 12 years old girl from Egypt (a country following the divine laws and most merciful creator!!!!!!!) sold to a couple from that country whoo migrated to USA, for 30 USD a month and the hard-ships she had to undergo in US at the hands of her employers. The girl has been rescued and the couple is awaiting punishment (smilar to the case under discussion). She even refused to talk to her father due to his inhuman treatment.

Mr.Atheist,if a person commits a crime ,would you accuse the legal system for that?

One doesnt become a muslim by birth,he becomes one by following islam.I remeber some time back you quoting muslim honor killings to some how suggest honour killing is part of islamic belief system.I argued that it is the influence of bad culture, now you would have seen so many honour killing within especially asian communities regardless of being a Muslim, sikh or Hindu

I had never written anything about "muslim honor killings" I had mentioned the case of Mukhtar Mai (that too was reported in Reader's Digest about 6 months back)when one Mr. Balaord was waxing eloquent about his religion.

If the nature of human-beings cannot be changed even in countries following the "divine laws" for more than 1400 years, forget about reforming the "kafirs"! Pl read the article "Is god a plain dope" at Postive Atheism. Also visit the web of "Actual Freedom - the third alternative" to know more about the basic reasons for the human-behavious and how to over come that. This is an alternative to organized religions.

>>>>>>>>One doesnt become a muslim by birth......do you mean that a person become muslim only when a small portion of a particular organ is cut-off or if he blows himslef up "in the cause of Allah"? The reply was to the post of one Mr.Rhazes Ashrawi. don't jump to conclusions.

honour killing by the followers of any religion (whether Muslim, sikh or Hindu) is an obnxious practice. The law of the land should be respected by all. I do not hold any brief to defend any religion.

What about the same happening in the Middile East
by Ravi nair on Jun 27, 2008 12:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bias is definitely there, or re diff is stupid because this is what happening everyday to indian maids in the Gulf. I definitely feel that the punishment was just, but why do you make a big issue of that, why not look around and then see other communities practicing worse than slavery in the Gulf that too openly. Why not report it everyday, and mind you most of them at the other end are Indians.

I agree with you, it happens in middle east.

But it is not a reason to justify others!

Do not blame rediff,You start your own portal if you want to publish whatever you wish.

In most part of the world, Indians face discrimination and the same indians are doing this.

Basheer, Don't think he is justifing the wrong. His argument is that it is not an just an Indian issue. It is an issue with all humans.

the punihshment for Ms. vARSHA would be to treat her in the same way as she treated the two maids. She must do all the brutal things herself so that she can understand the maid's plight and the sufferings.

slavery of domestic help
by subburaman sunder on Jun 27, 2008 12:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a matter of shame that an India born couple should resort to torture, slavery of Indonesian domestic help in USA. They fully deserve the conviction meted out to them. It is indeed an eye-opener that such despicable practices are prevalent in a free and enlightened democratic country like USA. Thru their uncivilized acts Mr and Mrs Sabhnani have also tarnished the image of Indian origin persons settled in the USA. I am unable to understand what makes the people indulge in such barbarous acts. Perhaps some readers may offer some light on this.

Please Sabhnani are sindhis and sindhis are not indians but pakistanis. so no doubt they created this act. No indian would dare to do this outside india, cause there no one would be able to protect you as in india you can get out of every crime you create.
