We are proud of Field marshall Manekshaw. As a matter of honour does any bangladeshi remember him today? They got their freedom because of him. I will be happy if i see even one bangladeshi replying this message.

I met one B'deshi yesterday put the same question in from of him and the answer was 'No'. But they remember General Jasbir Singh Arora.
Alas!Mother India has lost one of the most chivolrous sons who was responsible for our resounding victory in 1971 Indo Pak war which also gave birth to Bangla Desh. His inimatable war strategies were nightmares for the enemies & very rightly he was called as "Bahadur"For the services he rendered, the valour he showed & for the dignity he maintained without succumbing to any poilitical pressures or enticements talked as interesting stories among the military circles,he deserves to be awarded "Bharatha His Rathna" at least posthumously. His charismatic face glowing with valiance especially with the cut of his moustaches of his unique style makes one feel that a war hero should be like that.Handsome and smart,he was a role model for any soldier.Though brave and grave in his looks, there used to be always a tinge of gentle smile on his face indicating his countenance to all good.He was witty, but firm & determined in his stand & strategies.Perhaps,he is the only soldier who had the guts to say in a casual but resolute manner-"I am always ready sweetie"to Prime Minister Indira who asked him as to whether at all he was ready for the war.The curt answer"No" for war at a time when P.M.asked,but chose a time when things were favourable according to his own strategy indicates how indomitable and thorough he was in war fare.Indian Nation lost a great hero who shall remain in annals of country's history for ever.May GOD bless his soul eternally in peace & his spirit guide the Indian forces
I saw Manekshaw, perhaps in 1971 coming out of Gaylord restaurant in Regal building after linch. He was accompanied with with another officer, whom I didn't recoganise. Manekshaw was wearing his typical cap and looking very rlaxed. There was no other visible security. It was war days. When a correspondent asked him the key to success of India's victory over Pakistan he remarked in a lighter vein 'because Manekshaw was on Indian side'. The remark created lot of ripples and critisizm. I salute to this great soldier and a human being.
It is not befitting of a defence minister of the biggest democratic govt of the world to plead his inability to attend the funeral of a great warrior like Maneksha whose strategy and leadership brought a thundering victory to India in a war for the first time and who became instrumental in giving birth to "Bangla Desh".Mr Anthony does not look that sick not to be able to travel by air and some miles by road.Whatever be the reason,it is just & proper for the Defence Minister to make his presence on such occasions of solemnity filled with grief-especially when the funeral is being organised with state honours in contrast to what normally happens at Delhi for such celebrities. It is thoroughly disheartening to note that none of the three chiefs of the defence is also not participating the funeral of their role model;it is just belittling the departed soul and thereby the honour of the country it brought to the country. As in case of Narsimha Rao who too was glossed over even after death despite his great contribution to the nation, sheerly due to political reasons,Samji also is not getting the due honour, certainly, for reasons that donot meet the eye.It is time for the politicians to shun their spite,if any, against such an illustrious and proud son and salute to his soul with all respect. Field Marshal Sam Bahadur Hormsuji Framji Jamshedji Maneksha Amar Rahe!May God rest his soul in peace. We are proud of you Samji!Your soul continues to inspire our forces.Salute to you!!!!!!

As an Indian,I and many more like me ,feel disgraced as Indian Govt had declared 3-days of National mourning with our tricolour at half-mast on all Govt. establishments when the First Viceroy of Free India,Lord Mountbatten had died -The greatest scoundral on whose influence Nehru/Jinnah sneeked patition of India in 1947 on basis of religious following - People of Non-Islamic and Islamic faith had fought shouler-to-shoulder in the freedom struggle but the cunning Britisher, Mountbatten, implanted the seed of hatred and successfully inflenced the then power hungry political leaders to break the unity of the Indian patriots and freedom fighters thus betraying our National unity, effects of which we in the post independence regime have never could sleep in peace BUT the death of a valliant soldier of the nation went off unsung by the lecherous politicians of today's India, let alone a national mourning. It is therefore heartening that at least the people of this generation , to whom National Pride and honour is of utmost importance have expressed their solmen gratitute to this brave warrior.I recommend the younger generation of our times to read accounts of pre and post freedom struggle , the annexation of native states ,the cease fire on the north eastern front of the then united Kashmir (now Azad Kashmir),plea of the then Kashmir Maharaja, Hari Singh , for similar annexation , Sadar Patel's futile convincings to Nehru and Shekh Abdullah, but for which the History of India would
Saluates to this brave man and patriarch's of Indian Army & the nation.
Just instead of moaning and leaving two words for in respect of this man, the people of nation should attest themselves to do something for their nation and return back to the great society which has nourished them. To all who carry hatred and talk about patriotism, I would suggest join Indian forces for a while and see how difficult it is to serve the nation and build a society as we are today. Today Indian Arm Forces need intelligent people like you more than in past as if you see there is a lot of attrition going on in armed forces and because of the rising opportunities not many young people are opting for armed forces. This thought came to the mind, so wrote it up here.
Long live our nation and peace-prosperity prevail in our nation in the times to come.
