RE:Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, we are proud of you. Our politicians are not like you. Cunning; liars... Inflation goes up; Sensex goes down ; Chidambaram enjoys 'in-sex'.. || sahadevan.wordpress.com

Field Marshal
by abboral boral on Jun 27, 2008 10:30 AM  Permalink

A word we used to often listen in our school days .A rare honour to rarest of rare personalities like SAM .Now a days this honour of Field Marshal are no more seen .It was a top honour given to outstanding soldier during British time .I think Ex president of Pakistan Ayub Khan was also a Field marshal.During 1971 Bangladesh war a coincidents happen ,while a cease fire anounced by the then Pakistan general to India ,it was a rare occation that the general of Pakistan was a student of SAM Manekshaw .SAM used to inspire millions of youth in India particularly 60s and 70s and 80s to join Army .Joining Army was a previledge to youths in India at those time but it is sad that given the end no of opportunities for bright youth in today's time of IT ,Army no longer attracts youth of India. So the quality of soldiers are declining day by day .The demise of SAM and Field Marshal will bring very low level of competencies in Indian Army in near future which is realy worrysome .Good bye SAM the hero ,who I am optimistic that will inspire millions of youths in India in future .and I appeal to Govt ,PVT companies to give a fitting farewell to SAM by installing statues ,clubs, NGOs,and lot of lot things which will inspire our youths .A big satute to SAM
