Your email is funny. If the ruler speaks ill about somebody why the poor and innocent people called. In fact the ruling parties MLAs made huge money under the pretext of reconstruction and rehabilitation work. Taken over lot of sea side properties from the sea folks. Squandered lot of Aid money and they became millionires overnight. If god truly exists, he should punish only these leaders and their family. Not the innocent public.

God treats all equally and gives results according to the individuals merit and demerits my dear friend. There is hence no partiality towards anybody. Out of ignorance and lack of patience, we are not able to understand the truth. Everybody gets his fruits according to his actions when the appropriate time comes. Do not worry hence.

Chennai is the most ugliest city and the people are the most uncivilized. They spit/piss/throw garbage anywhere. This is including the educated mass. If you ride a bike on the side of a bus there are every chance that someone will spit on your head. You can see the huge garbage all around the city, cattle, mosquitoes, stray dogs, ugly posters, stencil ink advertisements below bridges, cow dung everywhere, people passing uring on the walls of anyone's house, oh my god. the most dirtiest city. Absolutely no civic sense at all. This attitude is same with educated mass, all along the IT companies where they throw plastics, food waste everything anywhere. Guys if you got a transfer to Chennai pls quit your job. Chennai already looks like a city post-earthquake. why it needs a earthquake.

Tru but it is unfortunate that you can see only bad things. There are so many good things in Chennai like less crime, rich culture, good people, nice beach, restaurents etc. I am an outsider living in Chennai but really enjoy Chennai. Just because of some petty things, people need not quit their jobs if they are transferred to Chennai. You are just spreading a wrong message. All you need is to change your attitude.

Hi, I do not have any hatred towards Chennai. I know about the tradition and culture. But such people who maintain their tradi/cult, why not they do something towards this ill of society. It may not have many crimes but chennai but the attitude of people towards cleaniness is too bad. Everyone should accept the truth first only then we can improve on it. My argument is not about its tradition or crime rate. I am sure people who are born/brought-up/live in chennai would certianly agree that chennai is a garbage city and people with less/no civic sense. Do not compare other cities to hide your mistakes.

Look at Mumbai...people live like worms in ghettos. Once Monsoon starts, the cities filthy water will fill all the streets and people will have to wade throgh it....Every state has its good and bad. So lets enjoy the good things and try to whatever we can to remove the bad part.

Earthquakes
by DeepakJaiswal on Jun 28, 2008 08:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Earthquakes are normal geological process due to magma trapped inside and tectonic movement of earthen plates or volcanic eruptions. It has noting to do with population. However shocks and after effect may be devastating on population nearby epicenter of the tremor. The best way to minimize the damage to life and property is to train citizens to react and evacuate properly in the event of tremor and building structural safety should be followed with proper city planning;. Like in Japan which is one of the most tremor prone area of the world, where damage to life and property is minimum comparatively. There is no absolute science to predict tremors but it has been found that some animals have premonitions for tremors like frogs came out of hibernation before tremors in south china last month.

Barring nature/divine power, nothing can stop nature's power. Great people, who possessed divine weapons such as Arjuna etc. 5000 years back, has to simply watching tsunami taking dwaraka away. Of course, this was the will of Sri Krishna, as long as he lived, he protected it, as soon as he left, the city also came to an end. But what is to be understood is that there is the will of the supreme power beyond everything and in the time cycle of nature, nature acts and nobody can stop it. When such great people could not do anything, what mortal humans will do.

Chennai earthquake prone
by Vedapuri Srinivasan on Jun 28, 2008 07:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Chennai is badly planned city. No open space. Everywhere buildings and building construction. people park their vehicles on the road and block the road. In this situation if an earthquake strikes, rescue (of course by our army/paramilitary) will not be impossible and people have to die below the concrete. Bad city planning, population explosion and migration of people from rural to urban and lack of civic sense and orderliness among people actually kill people and not earthquakes. Earthquake is a natural process by which energy accumulated in certain areas below the surface is removed, like we remove our angle and cool down by bursting out. If any fool tells that chennai, bombay and other areas are not earthquake prone, do not believe that fool. I strongly believe that a major earthquake is due for Chennai, Bombay areas.

The solution is not to populate soo much.. family planning must be enforced globally. Unless we stop infesting every corner of the planet, there will not be amy solution. Muslim nations which are exploding every minute must start respecting the laws of nature and think about balancing..

Nature's revenge
by Guest on Jun 27, 2008 11:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Man can overcome every obstacle in space but not the very thing of ahich he is a part of. Yes am talking about Nature. Nature have always kept its word, been loyal to us, fed us kept us alive but we never thought twice before diminishing its worth. As you sow so shall you reap, goes the saying. However, Nature is kind enough to pre warn us beore infliting any calamity on us.. Its high time we didnt realize those.. Lets come together and thank her for all that she could give us.

Telephone.. the natural calmities were there buy not so closly placed, we need to understand the balancing acts of nature.. till 18th century we had some balance.. in 19th century, we have had rapid industrialisation and effluent disposal into nature causing global warming.. scients have indications that there will be not ice cap during the coming summer ! are these enough cause for concern..? are we going to take global measures or blame on America and China and sit twiddling our thumbs
