Sam Manekshaw was a Great soldier and a visionary general. He had set a very high watermark, none of the generals after him couldn't reach, not sure ever it will be reached.
He lived a wonderful life. May his soul rest in peace.

Our Bangla friends, and current generation, need to be told of what India did in 1971 to help them achieve the freedom from brutal West Pak rulers.
Sam Manekshaw's command performance in 1971 against Pakistan made sure we got rid of one of the strangest nation state ever created on the basis of religion. The East Pakistan, was overcome by nationalist feelings of Bengali's there and they struggled against the atrocities of barbaric acts of West Pakistan rulers. When the oppression reached unbearable levels, India acted under the leadership of Indira and the army under your able guidance. (Indians will also remember Indira for that one good deed.)
True Bangladeshi nationalists should always be grateful for your service in the liberation and birth of their nation. Unfortunately, Bangladesh is once again under the influence of religious fanatics after many years of dictatorial rule and abuse of civil rights. And an ungrateful Bangladesh has become a hub of anti-India activities. What a tragedy! India should consider taking over Bangladesh and wiping off all those terror elements from there, as a mark of respect to Sam Bahadur.
May your soul rest in peace. We shall not fail in our duty to defend the country. That is the best way of offering of our true respect in your honour.
Sam Maneckshaw belonged to a rare breed of men.....the kind that inspire a whole nation! I salute this brave soldier and gentleman. The life and times of this great personality should be definitely recorded in our history books for future generations. My heartfelt condolences to Sam's family & friends! JAI HIND
Alas!Mother India has lost one of the most chivolrous sons who was responsible for our resounding victory in 1971 Indo Pak war which also gave birth to Bangla Desh. His inimatable war strategies were nightmares for the enemies & very rightly he was called as "Bahadur"For the services he rendered, the valour he showed & for the dignity he maintained without succumbing to any poilitical pressures or enticements talked as interesting stories among the military circles,he deserves to be awarded "Bharatha His Rathna" at least posthumously. His charismatic face glowing with valiance especially with the cut of his moustaches of his unique style makes one feel that a war hero should be like that.Handsome and smart,he was a role model for any soldier.Though brave and grave in his looks, there used to be always a tinge of gentle smile on his face indicating his countenance to all good.He was witty, but firm & determined in his stand & strategies.Perhaps,he is the only soldier who had the guts to say in a casual but resolute manner-"I am always ready sweetie"to Prime Minister Indira who asked him as to whether at all he was ready for the war.The curt answer"No" for war at a time when P.M.asked,but chose a time when things were favourable according to his own strategy indicates how indomitable and thorough he was in war fare.Indian Nation lost a great hero who shall remain in annals of country's history for ever.May GOD bless his soul eternally in peace & his spirit guide the Indian forces
Manekshaw was a gr8 guy. He was a gr8 inspiration throught out my life. I met him in 2000 @ cochin university (CUSAT), where he gave a fantastic inspirational talk about his war experience. He was a sarcastic and jovial person. He's a gr8 role model 2 our young generation....
