They could not go for the funeral of a Field Marshal but will carry loads of towels and toilet paper if Rahul or Sonia have a cold. They have not done a thing for the welfare of the armed forces personnel during the 6th CPC. Shame on them.
I was really pained to hear that the funeral of the great soldier though notified as a national one turned finally into a state level affair. The First Lady who could find to meet and greet the freestyle wrestler could not ensure the paticipation of atleast one of the service chiefs as a mark of respect for the Great soldier .And the Union defence minister could not find a transport solution to reach Nilgiris which is a military area, when he can muster all resources to go to Kerala for his party affairs> that is a real shame on the Establishment.
I remember those days when indian military entered into East Pakistan and blocked all cantonments i.e. Khulna, Kakasbazar Citgong indivisually. so that there was absolutely no movement between each other and no solger could move towards Dhaka. This is how fall of East Pakistan could be possiable within nine days.and then 90,000 solgers surendered.
Mr prasad our security offcer used to tell us war stories as to how his unit entered in pakistan before acual war and trained mukti vahini volenteers for gurilla war against pakistan. Isalute Indira gandhi and the war hero.
It is a matter of great pride that FM manekshaw is being given a state funeral, but it is really intriguing and somewhere & somehow SHOWS the lack of respect to the great general - The Minister(Defence) MUST attend as also the Three chiefs, otherwise the State Funeral,in my opinion is only notional and respectless - Hope wiser and SANE minds in the Government and the services PREVAIL - lets respect a man who is really worth all the respect we can give.

I agree with you, that such a great hero at least was given a state funeral. But its pathetic to learn that our Defence Minister had no time to attend the funeral. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.

I AGREE THAT IF THE GREAT SOLDIER HAS BEEN ACCORDED A STATE FUNERAL,THE LEAST THE ARMED FORCES AND THE GOVT CAN DO IS TO ENSURE THAT THE THREE CHIEF OF STAFF OF NAVY,ARMY AND AIRFORCE ALONG WITH THE DEFENCE MINISTER ARE PRESENT
I salute the hero. Its unfair that war heroes are treated like this. These politicians will come if rahul or sonia sneezes but cant travel for heroes of Indian Army. Its sad to know that we have elected such guys to represent us

SAM, Wish there were more like you. You've lived a life full of honour, dignity and professionalism. You inspired, and continue to inspire your people. You've lived a full life, earned a golden page in history.
And in your large heartedness, I am sure .forgive the petty persons whom we are unfortunate to be led by in this country currently.
Rest in Eternal Peace. Soldiers never die,.. they just fade away.
Having had the previlage of seeing you in person during 1971 war, your departure saddens me and soldiers like me immencely. For us Sir, you were an inspiration,a fatherly figure and a model to look up to.There is a feeling that you have not been honoured in your death, but SIR, YOUR PLACE IS IN THE HEART OF THOUSAND OF OLD SOLDIERS and countrymen.WE CANNOT FORGET YOU AND WISH, GOD SENDS US AFTER OUR LIFE HERE, TO WHERE YOU RESIDE NOW SO THAT WE ARE AGAIN INSPIRED TO DO SOMETHING FOR OUR COUNTRY IN NEXT BIRTH TO MAKE INDIANS FACE OTHERS WITH CHEST UP AND PRIDE IN THEIR HEART.
