Field Marshal Sam MAnekshaw

All of us who belong to the era when the war was on in 1971 truly will remember on eof the gretest heros of our country. We talk about the 1893 world cup victory. No one talks about his contribution to the victory ovewr Pakistan in 1971.What Mr Sam did for our country against Pakistan in 1971 is similar to what our freedom fighters did to get independence in 1947.It cannot be measured. We all pray for his speedy recovery.

It was 1983 world cup and not 1893. Anyway, I understand that this was just a typo. So, no big deal. Just wanted to correct.
Do you belong to the the time when 1971 war was going on? If yes, please tell more about the condition in India because of war. I was not born then.

As far as I know during 1971 war we did not have shortage of officers in Armed forces. On the western front the ratio was 1 to 1.8 in India's favour and we ruled the waves from the beginning of war. Apart from our Army our Airforce was also able to prove its superiority in a short time. Above all we received solid support from Soviet Union which played no small measure in our victory. (ofcourse all these are well known facts)

Long Live

I am 50 today and I know the days of 1971 war when blackouts were ordered on all important installations. There were no means of communication except Vividh Bharti News on Radio and early Morning News Papers.

I was daily saluting heroes of WAR at my small villge in Gujarat.

Since than I have been telling freinds , and now my children about this GREAT HERO OF 1971 WAR - Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

I admire him a lot. perhaps he is in bad helath and to great extent in COMA because of present dirty politicians tactics and deeds. He might be not feeling well because of them.

Let us pray for his HEAVEN DEPARTURE at earliest before he gets more dirty news of present crisis.

these are the real heroes of India then the so-called actors.. everyone keeps saying about some hardwork by actors for applying makeup it takes 3hours-6 hours et al but by now we should really admire and make greatness of only the real heroes and not on screen heroes. Let us take a vow that we would admire and glorify only the real things of life and not artificiality...
