One of the finest soldiers and leaders that the then India produced, the strict adherence to ethics, kindness and the gentlemanly conduct is something I am the sure the army has missed ever since his retirement. Bravo, India and Indians were, are and should be proud of such sons
Come on, fellow Indians, Let us salute this great hero. It is but rarely that such men walk the earth, lets create a record of sorts by paying the largest tribute ever to Sam Bahadur. I'll tell you all one instance which will speak volumes: The year was 1962, the Indian Army, following absolutely ridiculous orders and led by an uncouth Army Chief was in full retreat in the face of the advancing Chinese. Sam Manekshaw arrived at the scene to take chare of the North Eastern theatre of operations. His first words inspired a by then demoralized Army and NAtion at large to stand upto and give the enemy a bloody nose, which they did. His words were; GENTLEMEN, I HAVE ARRIVED. FROM NOW ON, THERE SHALL BE NO RETREAT, THE ONLY WAY IS FORWARD.
come on folks ,lets make this happen, send this to as many pple you know, lets make it a tribute and a prayer for his health, for all to remember forever.
Sam Manicshaw was one military officer who grew much bigger than his size after the victory of Indo-Pak war of 1971. Of course Madame Indira Gandhi cut him to size later. The real heros of the victory were the dedicated soldiers under the leadership of Lt Gen Singh.
This is not a true democratic forum. Everybody here seems to be a sycophant of Manekshaw. Do not forget that in both the world wars 50% of the armed forces were Punjabi. Maneckshaw like Patel used the Sikhs and other communities for self-aggrandizement. It is a pity that in this country we respect people who live only by their own words and think of themselves as heroes while trained soldiers working in brutal tortous conditions die an unsung death.
He has lived a long and noble life and it is time the earth bids adieu to a noble son.Bless me father for I have sinned if I cannot sing the common refrain and bless Mr. Manekshaw for his noble heroics and selfless acts for the large majority of poor Gungadins.
I am 23. I didnt even exist when the heroics of Mr. Sam Maneckshaw led our Country towards Victory against Pak in 1971. I know we are all sent on this earth for a purpose, may be Mr. Sam was sent to Serve the Nation and make all the other Indians realise what it takes to be a Superhero.
May You Live a Very Peaceful Life ahead and wishing you a Successful and Speedy recovery...
