Energy options
by samir siddiqui on Jun 24, 2008 09:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India needs to hedge its bets and it should go with both energy solutions: 1st-Nuclear Deal with Uranium enrichment offered by US and 2nd-Through the Iran-Pakistan-India-Burma-Eastern China pipeline. Of course the best guarantees are required in both cases however the best way to proceed in a world with a declining US dollar and influence would be to avail greater options and reduce dependency or to put it another way: create more inter-dependencies!

Now God knows why they want to stall the Neuclear deal. The world is going thru an energy crisis. The biggest pauper country in terms of fossil fuel is India and one of the main party boasting on some suedo secularism wanted to challenge the world and be super power. All its main cities go thru power cut with 2 years of 8% growth !The Country do not have energy for its industry or energy to light the 30 % od homes in the country. I dont know what we talk of sovereign rights what about the sovereign rights of millions of poor who have no way to live. God Save India from this pak retured ultra Nationalists. The same people who almost singed the deal when they were in power now boasting and lying

Mr.Prakash Modi is tapping his 1700 kms of coast for tide energy and also wind energy.
Do not compare modi with the rest.
In India lots energy leaks through energy thefts.Transmission loss is staggering 60%.
This deal is not going to solve the energy problem overnight. At present Nuclear power contribution is 3%.In 10 years it is going to be 7%.No major difference.Instead we shold go wind energy and small hydel projects.

What a joke? Transmission loss 60%? Where do you get your figures? From Modi's propaganda Dept.

BJP IS DOING A VERY VERY BIG BLUNDER...
by MGR Fan on Jun 24, 2008 09:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Joining hands with China supporting Commies to block the nuke deal is totally unacceptable.

However, only consolation is that BJP is with Congress in opposing Naxalites and supporting Salwa Judum.

A minority govt subsisting on the outside support of various parties has no right to enter into an agreement undermining the soverignty of our Country (by signing 123 Agreement, we are submitting to Hyde Act, an internal Act of the US).

The nuclear deal will benefit only the US equipment manufactuerers and politicians who can earn kick-backs.

Fact is US want nuclear mrket and India with so many US educated( Agents) is most suited nation ( Not MFN as china is). I hope US agents shud make noise with US on this issue

Mr Rajnath is right
by Jo Ho on Jun 24, 2008 09:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The deal is anti-sovereign as the nuclear scientists are saying. The scientists understand it the best;it's their area. If they say it's no good, Dr MMS doesn't have any right to go against them;that will be anti-nationalistic. BJP's stand is very clear - we can't forget our sovereign rights. I don't see any better word.

it is 100% correct that Jinnah was Nationalist and secular. It was Congress which forced him to take Anti Hindu stand ( read anti national) . In order to prove that he is better political leader than Nehru he took that stand which we in India rightly donot like.

He was definitly a great leader than Nehru and gandhi bcoz he could achieve what he wanted. Unlike gandhi who could not prevent partion!

WHat did he achieve dear friend other than a pakistan ! that is the easiest thing that some one can do - divide people on religion in a coutry where less than 20% of population is educated. Ask BJP they will tell you how easy was it to do it. But ask them how easy was it to lay foundation for a sucessful Nation , What happened to pak - end of the day they are a failed state -now hail Jinnah for it , You may hail Advaniji for the violence thats been happening in India after his infmous rath yatra.

Dear Mahesh Chauhan (President Redifusion)

Rediff is turning pro pakistani, as you can see you r having discussion board open on any news but not news which are against muslims and paksitanis. Two important news here which have discussion desabled

1. Muslims agitating against land given to hindu shrine

2. India's most wanted list where ISI protected people are listed.

You better shift to pakistan and have a .pk extension for your website.

BJP: This was not expected of you?
by Danda Ramachandra Reddy on Jun 24, 2008 09:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Usually I am a BJP supporter, But this time I am disappointed by their attitude.India wants energy and blocking the deal means depriving India the opportunity to develop.I can understand sabotage from the left parties but BJP too ?This is the problem with both Cong or BJP , they will oppose everything the other party does. Why cant they be together on important national issues and fullfil the nations aspirations?
