Half the journos in India, including some worthies here at Rediff, would be in jail - for the anti-Hindu venom flowing in their veins. Unfortunately we don't have laws to check unbridled and rabid anti-Hindu , hate-filled ranting in the press

Psuedo Democracy
by Pavithran on Jun 25, 2008 04:48 AM  Permalink

Arresting journalists is not justified as it is against the freedom of speech and hits out at the very foundation of our democracy. When will state govts learn to stop misusing power?

Actually the Editor and journalists were arrested because of their rivalry with YSR, the Chief Minister. simple misuse of power.

Bad Rediff report.
by Virgo on Jun 25, 2008 01:44 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Rediff story does not state what the journalists wrote that was so offensive. I would have thought if Rediff is going to report the news, the most important part should be to give the readers the full truth as what was written by the arrested journalists and then let the readers decide if the arrest was justified.

Journalists only wrote that few cast based groups' activities are biased towards ruling government. No specific cast or group named. MRPS thought they are indirectly targeted.

John Thomas you are converted christian from dalit hindu
by siddharth on Jun 25, 2008 12:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

John Thomas now as you people converted from dalit to christian and still you wanted to enjoy the reservation. I have seen many christian who represent as dalit hindu in schools and collages for the sake of reservation and scholarship. The true hindu dalits are still suffering because of there converted christians. They get the money from the missionaries to convert and they have better education still they want reservation and scholarship in the name of dalit hindu. Shame on you people go and lick Britishers you liked them and when they ruled us and now converted to become one of them.

Dalit Christians are treated no better than Dalit Hindus. In fact they are at a higher risk from Hindu fanatics. SC seats remain empty in many institutions due to lack of qualified people. In Andhra, malas get most of the reservations and madigas dont, because malas are higher on the caste scale. So, dalit Christians are not part of the problem. Also, if a dalit wants to reject a religion that rejects him/her what is your problem. If you have that much of a problem with Britishers, why do you speak English. Go to a regional language website that has your language and post your comments. Hypocrite.

It seams you are also converted christian. Mr Raj Kona. Christians are occupying all the seats in the institutions by using dalit hindu reservation. Christian has all the support from the missionaries they have better grip on English when compared to other dalits. It seams you are deeply influenced by a missionary. If some one speaks about fact he becomes Hypocrite, What are crap are you. Now all Hindus are equal, dalits are not rejecting the religion, few p *imps like you are converted and influencing other dalits to convert in to Christianity. all the missionaries are getting pumped with money from western word and you guys are converting them by forcefully and by giving bribe. Hinduism is the worlds first religion and you must have made some good things to take birth in this mother land but soon you will become a traitor to your own country.

Well, the converted Dalit Christians and Musliss have the choice to convert back to Hinduism if they want to avail the reservation system.

However, your comments do raise some valid points about the basis of reservation itself. I am all for changing the system to one that helps the poor and needy based on income irrespective of religion, caste etc.

No religion rejects people based on cast. It was long time ago when dalits are ill treated but now they are been given reservation as form of compensation but I believe it is nothing when compared to their suffering from thousands of years but in modern day they are sitting beside a pandit and chanting mantras and Vedas in temples. Christians are the most racist in the world they have ill treated black people they made them slaves and in America the migrated Europe Christians killed all native Americans who are non Christians and red Indians. Christians are ones who are the most racist.

Many journalists are amongst the most casteist people in India. This is a very appropriate action and the guilty journalists must pay for their sins. This would also be a lesson to other journalists. Kudos, the Congress government for this action.

What about free speech. People like Bal Thackrey and Raj Thackrey spread hatred all the time. Shouldnt they be arrested. Journalists that have no political motive should not be arrested. What lessons do you want to teach journalists? Dont report??
