Stalemate on N-deal:
by Kersie Madon on Jun 21, 2008 11:06 PM  Permalink

USA is more anxious to conclude the N-deal than India & USA is pushing our PM. One thing should be absolutely certain that India cannot forgo its right to further Nuclear tests. This is precisely why USA is literally forcing our PM to conclude the deal fast so that we are prevented from further tests. If USA trusts India & claims to be our friend then we should be allowed this liberty & the deal can be signed today. Besides, there are several other internal issues to be tackled but UPA Govt has just one point agenda to seal the deal. If our PM wants to quit over the issue, so it be today & not tomorrow.

Is the Left on China's secret payroll?
by Indiaman1 on Jun 21, 2008 11:04 PM  Permalink

There should be an independent media investigation about why the Left is taking such a hard, irrational stance. I suspect the role of the Chinese secret intelligence in this. Remember the Mitrokhin Archives? Several of the Left leaders were on Russian KGB's payroll back then. What makes 2007 any different? China has every interest in destabilizing this deal, and I think it has a bigger role in this issue than the Indian Left

Congress should call the Chinese Pets' bluff
by Sharad on Jun 21, 2008 10:52 PM  Permalink

Congress should take a bold step (DEVELOP A SPINE) and call the bluff of these anti-national traitors-cum-chinese pets. They should put the BJP in a spot to either support them or go against them and support the communists.

These political parties are playing with the lives of more than 1 billion people and our CITIZENS ARE STUPID.

Pressure from US
by mahe on Jun 21, 2008 10:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The congress party doesnt have the guts to go against any of its allies especially, locally strong parties like the CPI/CPM. Its the pressure from the US thats making India sign the deal. No country on the globe can go agaisnt the wishes of the US. India is no exception.

I personally think that we need a nuclear co-operation with the US to avoid the global energy crisis, may be it'll help after a few years but we can't evade the ensuing turbulence in our economy due to soaring crude price. If the nuclear deal in the current form does not create a problem for our sovereign status and Kakodar also supports it, we can not rationally say anything against it but as this issue is so sensitive in nature and if Dr MMS is so confident that it'll do only good and nothing bad, why is the UPA government falling shy of putting it forward to the media? If it's so good, I think NDA might support UPA also and we don't have to necessarily look at the interest of China to cancel the deal. In fact, it seems that LF is also split on this issue but as CPI(M) is a anti-nationalist party full of confused people, they may keep anybody guessing till they get their orders from Beijing at some Chink voice.

Utter Ignorance of CPM
by Guest on Jun 21, 2008 10:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is very unfortunate for the country that we are having such politician who does not have any technical, scientific and environment knowledge. They are considering themselves more intelligent and knowledgeable than our IAS & IFS officers, nuclear scientists and technocrats who are involved in this deal from the very beginning. They are questioning their integrity and patriotism. All communists want that illiteracy, ignorance and poverty to prevail in this country so that illiterate voters continue to cast vote for these unscrupulous self serving communists. These communists’ parties should be taught a lesson in the next elections. It shall be the endeavor of right minded citizens of this country to educate voters not to cast votes in their favor. Congress party shall take a bold decision to go ahead with this nuclear deal whatsoever may be the fate of the government even in these difficult situations. Succumbing to the threats of these parties will be disastrous to the country’s image.

I dont understand their reasoning...Are they against the strategic ties with US? Look around and you will realise that our country's ecomomy boom can be partly attributed to the close US ties, investments etc.... I would appreciate if they bring some other conclusive argument to support their point of view.
