All netas have Z class security and to hell with security personnel
by Lopesh S on Jun 16, 2008 10:29 AM  Permalink

Centre should not have scrapped the anti-terrorism legislation POTA, it's an useful instrument in punishing terrorists and confiscating funds associated with the menace. UPA is trying to please its allies who are Linked to Terrorist groups in repealing POTA. UPA should consult the army, paramilitary forces and the state police who are dealing with terrorism day-in-and-day-out and not but not the least the widows who lost their husbands if fighting terrorists. Security forces have been fighting terrorists risking their own lives and how can congress justify scraping a law that is specially designed for that (fighting terrorists)?." There have been some abuse of POTA, which law in India had not been abused. "Even IPC (Indian Penal Code) has been abused. Does that mean that one scraps IPC ?." NDA Government tried to provide safeguards in POTA and did it and had told the then opposition to offer suggestions to that extent. "Don't scrap it. It's a useful instrument,"

BRO STAFFS and their Security.

The work being undertken by the BRO is a very wonderful one under a tedious situation and also the job too being carried out, under streneous and against very odd working conditions. It should be seen ( I surely feel, many would not the severity of teh situation, unless they visit Kashmir)how theyn have to work, and indeed we will only marvel their work,of how they ahev done, this and cannot even imagain ehow they could have built these, under the condition and situation, which
we can while travellling only. The inability of teh Government to provide scurity to these men, while they provide high catagory to the politicians. is a shame to one and all.
Is it not necessary that these people are given the maximum secutity as they not only leave their family and work, they work under terrain conditions, for teh very common man, to have good basic amenities. Even mthe militatnts, have access to kill these peoplke, because of the very same road being laid by these wonderful people, Who need a ROYAL salute, and I salute them, On behalf of my country men, and as one who has seen theri wwork and wondered!~!
I request every Indian, especially from down South to make a visit to Kashmir, to knwo their working condition, at lest for a sake of knowledge, and the situation in which they haev done the work adn continue to do so!~!

Is there a way legally to stop giving security cover to Netas completely? Do we need a greater movement towards this, let us start this now.

It can be made , by making them to pay from their pockets for their security, instead of Government paying from the exchequer.

....very true! I just returned from an absolutely wonderful vacation in Kashmir...including all the great sites such as Pahalgam,Sonmarg,Gulmarg etc.and the one sure sign of the greatness of the BRO Beacon Project was the effort being taken to rebuild and repair the roads&bridges which had seen a decade's decadence.....infact the irony was that whereever the state Govt was involved in road building or reparing,it was sure shoddy especially. It's a shame that all the security big guns and politicians surround themselves with enough and more security net, little is done for the footsoldiers.....

Shame on politicians!!
by clement fernando on Jun 16, 2008 09:27 AM  Permalink

In most of the government posts, honesty and integrity are lost. Honest people have no respect and dirty ,corrupt government officials don't care about people.

This is not new to India as many people like this have been killed for their integrity.

wee said resitence.I had an uncle of mine who resigned because of the very same kind of threat in Nagaland. The local tribe wanted cement for personal use and the Captain refused.Around 10 men including the Captain were slain in cold blood. My uncle manged to escape somehow and Govt. apathy and love for his family made him resign.Corruption is there every where and the best way to fight it is by not paying and taking bribes...please leave these columns free.

Please do not make such comments if you are not aware about the organisation. I know this organisation very closely more than anyone this forum. Employees of this organisation goes through such discrimination but still they cannot raise their voice as they are bound by Army act of 1950, but they do not get same facilities, pay, promotions as Army, Navy, Airforce officers and jawan gets. These BRO brave soldiers fight all odds and they are true unsung soldiers
