We are just amused by News channel!!!
by Showbiz on Jun 11, 2008 05:21 PM  Permalink

There are examples set by news reporters!! Recall kargil war, when Star News reporter barkha dutt, forgot all her duties and took injured villagers to hospital.. its about humanity not about duty. Some news channels are simply playing with news and we watch them coz we feel amuzed.. its shameful.

Good... Police did their job,, and gone!!! Agitators did thier job,, crashed public property!!! Camera man did his job,,, kept shot man shooting till he died. All did thier job... its no body's responsibility to help a dying man... Loan Shark you need to understand that police feared crowd, crowd freared policeman. Only reporters and cameraman were mediocre there. I am not saying leave your camera and do it alone but if 1 person could have couraged,,, more would have joined.

Both Gujjar stir and Karnataka farmer's riots are BJP's own making.

In 2003, the BJP promised Gujjars ST status in exchange of their votes. The stir began because they backtracked their promises and started shooting Gujjars.

In Karnataka, by projecting a CM who swore by farmers - yet this character did not appoint a Agriculture Minister or take any action steps till the confidence vote. All available fertilzers were diverted to the CMs and Home Ministers constituencies. Banias who constitute BJP's main vote banks were permitted to hoard fertilizers and seeds.

Fertilizer Shortage And ''Post-election Agitations''
by Kris iyer on Jun 11, 2008 05:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We all know, in the run-up to elections in India, first round = People who have not been given "ticket" will protest, then join another party. Second round = After elections, many of the dis-satisfied parties and candidates will launch agitations to "embarass" the new government.
As "Machoman" says below, fertilizer shortage is not entirely new. With both rail and road transport severely disrupted in Rajasthan and Delhi, is it hard to understand that fertilizer isnot moved from factories there?
The "political instigators" do not value the lives of their own followers. They urge them to attack armed police, by surrounding them. 20 policemen facing 2,000 people coming at them, will they not fire to save their own lives? Policemen have the same right to "self-defence" as any other citizens.
Any senior police officer can issue order to fire, if the lives of his men are threatened or the crowd is destroying property, private or public. Home Ministries are not necessarily involved in police-firings.

Useless article
by Machoman on Jun 11, 2008 04:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Article referred to road blockage is one of the reasons for shortage. It never realised how many fertilizer companies are in rajastan, delhi the nerve centers of gujjar agitation. The author talks of 1.1 ton shortage for a big state like karnataka. It lacks any authentic info except it has some finicky header to attract readers.

Fertilizer and pesticide shortage is a regular feature in indian agriculture in every state for last 15 yrs thanks to lazy agri departments and state govts in collusion with MNCs that india has become testing ground for seed varieties.

But shortages seldom lead to protests and protests seldom leadto police firing. Why Home Ministry gave orders to Police to shoot? Is it guilt that all fertilizers diverted to CMs and Home Ministers constituencies?

More often we see police firing happen when the goons / radical elements take over the protests to turn violent, but sadly ending with killing of innocents. It is a challenge for new govt to handle such unfortunate incidents beter way so that they wont recurr.

Vinay Siddama,
If you wish to influence your readers, you need to a) avoid baseless rumours b) your statements should be credible. How can ALL the fertilizers be diverted to CMs and Home Ministeres constituencies? The two or three constituencies involved, can the use the entire supply meant for K'taka?
When you said, "Shortages seldom lead to protests and protests seldom lead to police firings" - you lost your credibility right there.
Do you live in India? Do you read Indian newspapers?

Why farmers are Angry?
by Vinay Siddama on Jun 11, 2008 04:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Fertilizers are diverted to CM's constituency. Other constituencies can go to hell. The matter was brought up last week in the Special Assembly where Yediruppa had no answer,

Farmers riots are a reaction to Yediruppa's bias

They did it Again.

First it was Rajasthan. The BJP promised Gujjars ST status in 2003 in exchange for their votes. Then they backtracked and started shooting Gujjars when they peacefully protested that the BJP keep their promise.

Again in Karnataka, Yediruppa enacted the drama of swearing by the farmer in taking office and then shoot them when they protest that BJP bania traders are hoarding fertilizers and seeds, emboldened that their party has come into power.

Fancy with such a track record, the BJP proclaim themselves as frontrunners for Lok Sabha 2009 polls!

Everything is a conspiracy for the BJP when their lack of governance is exposed. Excuses, excuses, excuses excuses. Then they talk of governance. Even Viagra will not help BJP - suffering from erectile dysfunction!

You seem to pour over your anti bjp stance with baseless rumours.

Can any believe 2or3 constituencies consume entire fertilizers meant for a state. I think even in small states like chattisgarh not possible

Farmers have always been neglected.
by Jayaprakash Balan on Jun 11, 2008 04:35 PM  Permalink

The riots by farmers was only there to happen and it is not a surprise when one of their own is shot whether incidentally or accidentally. All the years of post independence we civilians especially the political people have always ignored farmers and taken them for granted however harsh is their suffering. No Govt. is ever trying to do their max for the farmers when those people already on the mercy of nature as well exploitation has to suffer at every point. When in fact, farmers are the backbone of any country and they necessarily deserves to be in much better living standards and financial status than many of us. It is a pity that when the entire country lives on a farmer's hardwork they do not basically get seeds or water properly to grow.

for a period relatively greater than bjp in most of the states (and also at national level)... the long years of politics and governance (if there was any?) has not taught them civil manners...

its like losing in a homeground for them every time they lose to a party... but they dont know how to exit gracefully...
