A well-wisher of Neeraja Choudhuri
by suneera rahman on Jun 12, 2008 09:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As a well wisher of Neeraja Choudhuri, I earestly appeal to her to write a novel or poetry; as her logical thinking is seriously affected by age;
Or is she expecting a Rajyasabha seat offering by BJP?

Good advice.. . .

Now you are asking her to write some articles for Congress?... ;-)

I mean, that's the only way I can interpret your advice - after being forced to listen to Abhishek Manu Singhvi types...

Poor parties or poor voter ?
by P V Krishna on Jun 12, 2008 09:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When can parties realize that they won because of hobson's choice not their own strength. With no agenda except giving everything free, parties are decieving the voters in every election.

Congress won because voters rejected BJP. Now the vice-versa.

Okay... next time BSP will win, ...

Never mind their candidates will not get a single vote; but they will win because voters would have rejected BJP and Congress by giving them negative marks..

That's what the upshot of your comment is.... signifying as if there is never a POSITIVE vote that someone casts in anyone's favour, but is rather a penalty that the voter takes "away" from the party he doesn't like...
Fair enough... My question to you - If voter rejected the Congress, why didn't Indian Union Muslim League not get into power in Karnataka?..

Answer is - they didn't contest elections.... Which shows that in order to come to power, you HAVE to compete, you HAVE to grab the vote share, you HAVE to win, and you HAVE to form a government,.. . .

It doesn't just HAPPEN because the voter chose to throw out X party

low credibility
by Kes Som on Jun 12, 2008 09:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Advani's main problem is his complete lack of credibility with the educated middle class / conservative voter. The reason for this is the enormous distance between what he claims he wants to do and what he actually does.

I would not be suprised if NDA wins a majority in the next Lok Sabha but Advani loses (particularly if he contests from Gandhinagar).

Advani and Vajpayee in their lust for power have destroyed an excellent party which everyone feared in the 90s. A party which could have come to power on its own in 5 to 10 years if it remained a roaring tiger than choosing to become a pussy cat just to stay in power and giving in to the pseudo-secular allies and forgetting all its core issues. Advani has still not learnt from Mayawati's rise and Narendra Modi that one should never compromise on their agenda and not surrender before allies and critics just to stay in power. People do not vote for dual personalities and makeovers like Kalyan Singh, Advani and Vajpayee..at least not twice!

In 2008 elections too, BJP will do well if it wins 100 seats and its allies other 50. No question of it getting majority arises unless some miracle happens like Mayawati installing Advani as PM.BJP has no base in UP (78) West Bengal (42) AP (42) Assam (14) Tamil Nadu (39) Kerela (21). So in total 240 seats BJP is out of race even before it starts. Advani is only dreaming and wants his party men to dream rather than work hard to recaputre their lost ground and win allies in UP and elsewhere. Or they are in for a rude shock just like last time.

Not a single City in India can compete with the western world -- every where drainage, water , pollution , Poverty and Goonda Problems .... simply nonsense - no patriotrism to anyone. I am Indian NRI left India longback due to Polluted environment everywhere including relatives. Its a deadly disease which cannot be cured to our Politicians - the best way is to rewrite constitution to elect them who has strong educational background.... irrespective of polluted things.

Congress interpretations of some of the similiar events is as follows
by gaurang patel on Jun 12, 2008 08:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sikhs getting slaughered in thousands = A MISTAKE.
Hindus getting killed in Kashmir = Political problem.
Muslims getting killed by a few hundred = Holocaust.
Poor protestors getting shot in WB under Left Govt = Misunderstanding.

Banning Parzania in Gujarat = Communal.
Banning Da Vinci Code and Jo Bole So Nihaal = Secular.

Kargil Attack = Government failure.
Chinese invasion in 1962 = Unfortunate betrayal.

Reservations in every school and college on caste lines = Secular. Reservations in Minority institutions = Communal.

Fake encounters in Gujarat [Sohrabuddin] = BJP Communalism.
Fake encounters under Cong-NCP in Maharashtra [Khwaja Younus] = Police atrocity.

2)

Talking about Hindus and Hinduism appeasment = Communal. Talking about Muslims and Islam = Secular.

BJP freeing 3 terrorists to save 100 Indian hostages = Shameful
Congress freeing 4 militants to save just a life of one daughter of its minister in Kashmir [Rubina Sayed] = Natural Political dilemma.

Attack on Parliament = BJP ineptitude. Not hanging Afzal Guru the mastermind despite Supreme Court orders = Humanity and Political dilemma.

BJP questioning Islam = Communal. Congress questioning Lord Rama existance = Clerical Error.

Now BJP winning Karnataka:

Due to SC votes being shuffled instead of their own political failures as interprited by congress...

Is there any end to Congress and it shameless supporters hypocrisy.

More than 40% of SC/ST voters voted for BJP. That's why it got more seats in north & middle Karnataka.

I think this farmer agitation has been fanned by the opposition parties. Why is congress crying foul when their govt in centre is the reason for fertilizer shortage countrywide. This has happened due to non payment of 1 lac crores of subsidy to the fertilizer manufacturers. They are not ready to supply to govt. This problem of shortage is not only limited to Karnataka, it is already prevailing in Andhra (congress govt), TN and maharashtra. Will spread to other northern states as well.Poor BJP is being blamed for killing farmers, when the guy killed was caught in cross fire & not a farmer. When hundreds were killed in Nandigram there is no uproar by congress as it is their allies' govt in WB.Congress should stop this double game and start thinking on betterment of common man as they are ruling at the center.
