This is height of hippocracy of the Australians. Who has said that the nuclear fuel found in Australia is safe and that Australia will not use this in future to arm itself with nuclear weapons. Any minerals found under-bed is a global resource and should be made available through globalally accepted norms, and not by whims and fancies of the origin country. Have a clause to end the nuclear weapons from the world, and do not be hippocrates defining INDIA specifically. Anyway, we will also pay u back in the same coin, one day or the other.

anything found under the territorial boundaries of a country belongs to that country .... if australia doesn't want to sell Uranium to us, it is their prerogative ... it's theirs and theirs to decide whom they sell to and what conditions they impose.

If Australia does not give uranium, then why are other countries like Ukraine,Russia are... they would be more than happy to sell it in much lower price.

Most fo the Rediff members r condemning Australia for not selling Uranium to India ! but it is seen that Indian Students are flooding Australian Universities for Studies and spending more than one million rupees for even third class courses Such as MPA !On the one hand these members r condeming Australia but the childern of very these Middle class who have made millions of Rupees in looting Indian exchequer are sending their childern to study even third class courses in Australia!Why such hypocracy!do u need one Enquiry Commission to find out whose childern are these students !Until and unless Indians become real patriots countries like australia and many West countries will not look India as important nation in the world politics!

Australia is an irrelevant country with nothing to offer the rest of the world,with a GDP of around 2%. I am perplexed that India is even having a conversion with them. Why anyone would want to study there is even more perplexing.

@mumbai australians r angry with MMS that's true !But still they supply and India wants ,though it has vast resources of coal in India !But SAIL and all other steel manufactures including even power plants insisits and r asking for australian Coal !Why Read " SAIL imports the bulk of its requirements from Australia. Australian hard coal is considered best suited for SAIL's purpose. But then SAIL also imports some quantities from countries like New Zealand and Canada. This coal, used mainly for blending purpos e, has a low ash but high sulphur content. Only this month, about 40,000 tonnes of soft coal were imported - 20,000 tonnes each through Paradip and Haldia - for Bokaro steel plant. Part of it is being used for blending purpose and part for coal dust inj ection process in the blast furnace.
Coal available from indigenous sources suffers from varying quality, so that if the production of a particular colliery does not conform to the stipulated quality norms, supplies have to be arranged from other sources. This calls for reworking of the tra nsportation matrix, which is difficult. The Railways, too, has its own limitations and cannot be expected to change the movement programme at short notice.

Geographically Australia is an isolated continent in Pacific ocean. USA ships are providing security to Australia, as Australia is not allowed to raise big military. Historically, australians are decandents of British, a close ally of USA. Till recently, they enjoyed patronage of UK. For purpose of high salaried employment, many australiand and newzelanders settled in NATO countries and USA. This explains USA influence upon australian policies.

1. who says australia is not allowed to raise big military? big miltary costs money ... that may be the reason but no country ever put a limit on their recruitment. In fact, the new australian govt. pulled out its troops from Iraq much to america's dislike.
2. Yeah, australia was a british colony and so britishers live there but so was USA - some 230 years ago.
3. For purpose of high salaries, several desies are working in USA, UK and in australia .... so what's great about that argument of yours. I bet that there are more Indians working in USA than there are australians in the USA.

u know our Tata is exporting most of its steels to Nissan making Indian steel price higher by 20% compared to China & malaysia...
