The right thing to do would be to abolish all state govts run by local satraps. Run the whole country, of 100 cities and 1000 districts, electronically from the centre. Replace state govts by cultural self-help-groups for various languages, suitably funded by centre. Removal of state govts will help uniform governance on whole country, central funds reaching local bodies directly, without diversions by state govt politicians, police and bureaucrats. Nationally elected PM should appoint best mgmt trained people as ministers. MPs elected as reps should concentrate on criticizing the govt on proper governance over their constituencies, as per special problems and reqmnts. Average young post-18 citizens today are quite mobile-savvy, despite deficiency in education. Every citizen should be able to access the PM on his problems and reqmnts. The PM's computer can be programmed to take appropriate decisions in routine cases, minimizing bureaucratic interference and corruption.

Yes. But Unlike zamindari system, the local comunty will be a republic and will elect a two leaders each. The winner will govern the comm and the runner-up will report to center. And the intercommunity disputes will be handled in more interesting way. There will be panel of people for each shared aspect, e.g. each river, each hill, each lake, population, highways, each forest, law, security, defence, terrorism, energy, air, tourism, telecomm, railways...etc. (say nominated by all the elected leaders of all comms based on qualification). The concept is to have balance/crosscheck between interest of opposites: People and nation's resources, With a greater control to people representive.

Like the seven horses [seven colors] figuritively pulling the chariot of sun in the skies, national sadministration should have 7 separate non-interfering streams: 1. rakshaa, defence. 2. nyaya, justice, order as per law. 3. jana, elected assemblies. 4. kaarya, elected national executive. 5. kriyaa, permanently appointed officialdom. 6. vigjnaan, autonomous institutions for education and scietific reserarch.. 7. gjnaan, free religious instns, for each religion, all secularly separated from governments.
I am not a recent MBA grad, only a retired prof on cybernetics from an IIT, nearing 75. You are welcome to ignore the old fool.

Dear Kutty, why do we have to have emotions getting hold of reality. Isnt India too diverse to be ruled a one entity, has it ever been ruled as one entity in past? If not balkanization, then why not have autonmy for regions?

I noticed hate campaign almost at all discussion forum. Kindly note the fact from the statistics of Government of India. The easter state of Jharkhand, which carved from South Bihar has contibute to:
i) 40% of India's total mineral reserve. ii) Producer of high-quality coal iii) Producer of high-quality Iron Ore, the world famous "Chiria" mines is in Jharkhand, which has millions of tonnes top quality iron ore. iv) Jharkhand is leading Boxite producing state. Aditya Birla extract the same from Jharkhand. v) Jado Goda is well-known for Uranium reserve and is in Jharkhand which supplies Uranium to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai and elsewhere in the country's nuclear reactor. vi) High-quality copper found in Jharkhand. vii) Top quality "granite stone" reserve is in Jharkhand. viii) Top quality lime-stone is available in Jharkhand.
The above is merely some example. Therefore, brothers do not use hatred for we North/Eastern State people, because India is a Union and Union Structure should be preserved. Jai Hind.

Its disgusting to find indians getting drifted by north and south.. buts its still a fact that politicians of UP are blundering..and there is atleast one murder in a week in the so called city of Noida.. I really doubt what the politicians and police are doing..
People with Criminal cases against them can't enter into civil services but they can be elected to Lok Sabha from where they can amend the laws... I wonder what law a criminal will think to bring... they will only try to save there a.. all are nothing but big assho...

U R such an idiot, people with criminal(proven records) can not join Civil Serivces, but they can sure appear for exams and ge selected. one is not guilty until proven
Mayawait, Only you asked your minister to resign and let him go. The culprit should be prosecuted in accordance with CrPC/IPC, under section 302 and 307. He should be put behind the bar immediately.
.....Is it any wonder we have so mant criminals in Parliament. That a Minister should raid a police station to support a Rape accused shows how low law is iun this country now and politician supporters freely move around with weapons in states like UP, Bihar and WB in a blatant power show to masses. Disgusting and shameful indeed.
