With hindus voting heavily for BJP, congress attempted appeasement of minorities esp muslims to control the vote bank of minorities. Also, the quota for OBCs was implemented to cement votes from that community. Soon it has realised that its tough to maintain muslims happy. They want gov.t to protect hardcore terrorists, demand special quota, ban nuclear deal, prevent 'alienation' of Kashmir and various other anti national schemes. At this moment UPA is like a 'dhobi ka doggie' and could not get onto either end. 'Best of Bad luck' to this anti national party
If the setu is built cutting between AP,TN and Maharastra and Karnataka, then the ships can sail even faster, reach directly to chennai port, create novel economy in the bordering states, and Keep out Hindi land from the southern states, and also it is in line with the Congress ideas of dividing India (into two), and crores more can be looted away by all parties concerned. Instituting an expert committee under Mr. R K Pachauri to find an alternative alignment and avoid any damage to 'Ram Sethu'could have been thought of and done much earlier. This good sense has prevailed after the sentiments of Indians and Hindus have been outraged by Central and Tamilnadu Governments. Who would forget that the politicians did even cast doubts about the very existence of Lord Rama. Now that the UPA Government has realised its mistake it should apologise to the Nation for insulting LORD RAMA and hurting the religious feelings of Hindus.
why did pachuri is being appointed for this. a learned Brahmana from Kanchi should be made to take decision. what will this pachuri do to Rama. does he know anything of Rama. the brahmins who do pooja and talk to him daily only should be appointed as they already knew how to talk to him and get his concern if the canala can go ahead.
the alternative way is conduct a pooja in kanchi and withdraw case against kanchi seer. that might work. no point i appointing a scientist

According the above logic, they should be constructing a road or rail bridge connecting to Srilanka to increase its usability, But they should not be destroying it.

Sam, all you could do is just wish... There were onslaughts on Tamils and Tamil language for thousands of years. The most recent onslaught was forcing Hindi. It never worked and it never will. And Singhalese won’t succeed in it either. The Ealam Tamils have nothing to loose, not even their life and Srilanka is the one that should worry. you better try to save the people who try to finish off Tamils. that way you would be helpful to the nation.

Tamil idiots? Are you nuts? Read about Subrahmanya Bharati, C V Raman, S Chandrasekhar, APJ Abdul Kalam and many. In fact Tamil is the only surviving genuine language of Indian origin. Go and study history.
